Chapter 18

Tank

The streets are quietat this hour of night except for the roar of our Harleys pounding the pavement. Tensions are high, not just in myself but in all my brothers. Even those riding alongside of us from the Savage Saints. We all have the same mission in mind, rescuing the victims of the Black Market Railroad and killing anyone who stands in our way. This is personal. For me. For Chainz. For Kayne. Which means it’s personal to our clubs, too. We ride in formation, hogging the empty road for most of the way. Breaking off into smaller groups as we reach the main metropolitan area where we suspect Ben and Steam are hiding these women. The plan is a coordinated attack on both locations simultaneously. Chainz and Kayne split us into groups before we left the compound. Of course, there is only one location I would be heading. The one Dia is at.

To pull this off, we need to come in quiet. Cobra and Stryker got a head start to scout each location and call back a meeting spot, alerting no one of our attack. Chainz and Kayne take the lead, followed by me, Ace and Hound as we take the sharp left, breaking off from the remaining pack. Rooster, Blayde, Fuel, Crusher and Freedom continue to the location Stryker is sitting on. A Prospect driving the crash vans follows both groups. If our intel is right, there are women there needing to be rescued. We need the vans to get them to safety.

I’m feeling reckless and restless by the time we pull off the road. My bike screeches to a halt at the meet location a half a block from our target. From here we go in on foot. We need to move in the shadows, so they don’t see us coming until we want them to. The warehouse district provides plenty of coverage in all directions.

“Stay close to the buildings.” Chainz orders. “Kayne, Poison, Ace and Tank through the front. Hound and I will disable their wheels and then Hound will cover the back and I’ll meet you inside. Remember there are innocents in there.” Chainz reminds us of the plan.

“My woman’s in there, watch where you shoot.” I remind them.

“We get her out and then we find Ben. Everyone clear?” We all nod and draw our guns.

Darkness and silence surround us. We’re stealthy on our feet, not a sound under our boots as we move in. My hand tightens around my Glock. Cobra throws his hand up, bringing the pack to a dead halt. He checks his watch. I check mine. Not that I don’t trust his accuracy, but Dia is inside, and if anything goes wrong, I could lose her forever.

My gut wants to rush in there, shooting and slaying anything that moves until I find her, but I check that urge. I scan the area in front of me. They painted the windows dark. Confirming we have the right location. A low growl slips from my throat at the thought that someone brought Dia here. As much as I want to rush in there and rescue her, I know I can’t. Not until Cobra gives the signal. I can’t go rogue here. My club needs me to hold it together. They are relying on me as much as Dia is. At least I hope she is. Does she know that even though everything between us has changed, I’d still do anything for her? Even risking my life for hers.

The seconds tick slowly as we wait for the precise time both teams will strike. My heart hammers in my chest. I take a deep breath, counting down in my head as Cobra lowers one finger at a time.

Three. Two. One.

We push out of the shadows, erupting bullets on the three unsuspecting guards standing outside. One by one, bodies drop to the ground with precision.

Taking them all out before they can get a round off or call in a warning. Whoever’s inside knows we’re here and they should be fucking scared. We’re coming for them.

I fall in line to the side of the door opposite Kayne, who has Poison at his back. He’s keeping her close, but she can handle her shit. I watched her drop one guard on the way in. She reminds me of Dia. Strong, sexy and smart. My mind rushes ahead of me, eager to get Dia back. I wonder if Chainz would ever allow a woman to take such an active role in the club. Raven is doing a great job as first lady, but my Dia is a fighter. I’d like to see her by my side, like Kayne and Poison. I can feel Ace breathing down my neck as we wait to storm the front door.

“You go left, I’ll go right. If someone gets the jump on one of us, the other comes in from the side.” Kayne orders.

After a long beat, Cobra gives another signal, and we slip inside. The warehouse is dark, and my senses are on high alert. Moving stealthily into the warehouse, I pull the trigger of my Glock, taking out another man. From all around me, more gunshots ring out and another man drops from the banister near a large steel cage. While the others scatter in opposite directions into the darkness. Anger tears through my body, my neck burns, and my fingers clench tighter around the barrel. Inside that cage is my girl.

Oh, hell no!

Her angelic face peers over the top of a sideways cot inside a steal cage. I move faster, needing to get to her. Her soft voice calls to me, “Reed?”

My focus draws towards the sound of her voice. There are three others with her, crouched behind the cot. They pull her down and I hear her voice carry through the space. “It’s ok. They’re here to save us.”

“I’m here, Angel.” My feet move faster the closer I get to her. I reach the cage and she rushes out of her hiding spot. Only the bars keep me from reaching her. I stroke the side of her face through the opening. Her lips turn upwards into the most angelic smile I have ever seen.

“Back up.” I order.

I aim my gun at the lock as she slinks backwards. I’m just about to pull the trigger to bust the lock open, but Chainz lands his hand on my shoulder. “Try this.”

Chainz flips a key between his thumb and forefinger. He tilts his head toward a body on the floor. “It was in his hand. Make it fast. I need you with me.”

I fumble with the key in the lock. My heart beating so loud I don’t hear it click open. I yank the chain and toss it on the ground. The chain clinks against the concrete floor. I yank on the door; the hinges protesting against my force. She’s clearly in shock. Standing there frozen in place, staring at me like she’s seen a ghost.

I take Dia in my arms and slam my lips to hers with an urgency I didn’t know I possessed. The taste of her fills my mouth and I swallow it up. Hesitantly, I pull away. I need to get her to safety. All of them.

“Get them.” I growl.

Dia turns toward the women and motions for them to follow her. They stand up from their hiding spots, but they don’t budge. Their eyes darting around, taking us all in. We’re all built like mountains and our cuts and guns must be as scary to them as the men who trapped them inside these bars.

“I got this.” Poison steps around me, holding the steel door open. “We’re here to help. You’re safe with us.” A female touch is the reassurance they need.

Dia’s small hand wraps around my arm. “Ben’s up there.” She tips her head toward the stairs, “He has a girl with him.”
