Patrick’s smile widened. “I’d love to.”

Kieren tugged him along behind him as he wound his way through the tables to the small dance floor on one side of the room. He spun Patrick around and pulled him close, holding his hand to Kieren’s chest and an arm around his waist. Patrick, being a couple of inches shorter, rested his head on Kieren’s shoulder and closed his eyes, enjoying the sensation of being with his boyfriend in a place that was less stressful than the large events he had to do.

“I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time,” he murmured.

“Hmm. We definitely need to do this more often.”

“What? Attend wedding receptions?” Patrick chuckled.

“No, get away from it all. Take some time for ourselves. I don’t think any of the royal family takes enough time away from the spotlight. It really should be mandatory.”

Patrick lifted his head. “We’ll have to take it up with Uncle Andrew.”

Kieren’s eyes widened. “I don’t have to call him Uncle Andrew, do I?”

Patrick’s laugh started small and grew until he had to muffle it against Kieren’s chest. When his eyes had stopped leaking, he wiped them with his hands and smiled up at his man. “I’m sure he would love it if you did, but you don’t have to. I’m sure it’s weird to even hear me call him ‘Uncle.’”

“Just a little.”

They finished out the song and headed back to the chairs they’d found earlier. Jade had collected a couple of bottles of water for them, and they drank heartily.

“How long do we have to stay?” Patrick asked.

Kieren squinted at him. “Long enough.”

“Long enough for what? Me to go out of my mind?” Patrick huffed and crossed his arms.

Kieren leaned closer. “You’re not the only one. Think of it as foreplay.”

Patrick could do that. He was good at making foreplay last a long time. His mouth curved. By the end of the night, Kieren was going to wish he hadn’t put that thought into Patrick’s head.

Between eating the food as if it were an orgasmic experience, dancing close enough to rub against him and teasing him with kisses and nips, it didn’t take long for Kieren to lose his patience and give their excuses to Zane and Viv. They promised to visit them again soon, but they drove back to the hotel and spent a very enjoyable night in each other’s arms.

And if they went through an entire bottle of lube, who would know?

Chapter 30

Kieren

After spending a couple of days in the haze of pleasure, Kieren felt invigorated instead of drained. They had left their suite a few times for food and fresh air, but they spent most of their time behind closed doors, enjoying everything about each other. And he was glad they had because he’d learnt even more about his boyfriend than he could’ve hoped for over several years.

Now, they were in their suite at Sandringham just before having dinner with the rest of the family. Everyone had arrived earlier that day, including themselves, and Andrew had insisted on dinner together before Charlotte could react to their plan.

“Do you think it will work?” Patrick asked, sliding his jacket on.

The muscles Patrick had slowly gained since they restarted his training distracted Kieren. He hadn’t been able to do anything too intense, but he’d asked Jade and Nina to help him. They’d been happy to help, and they had put Patrick through a gruelling training regime while Kieren continued at a slower pace to ensure he didn’t exacerbate his injury. It was much better than it had been, only the occasional twinge now and then, and he could do a lot more than he could when it had first happened.

“Kieren?”

Patrick’s amused tone pulled Kieren from his musings, and he looked into his eyes. “Yes?”

Patrick chuckled and sauntered over, sliding his arms around Kieren’s waist. “See something you like?”

“Always.” He kissed him. “And to answer your question, I don’t know. I don’t know her personally, and I only have my observations and what other people have told me to go on. But based on that, I would say she would react to the perceived threat to her plans. I doubt she would come in person, especially with how she’d left things with Andrew, but she’d send someone.”

“Charles, maybe?”
