“You couldn’t do anything badly, Chula.”

“I could be.”

“It’s probably about me,” I tell her.

“What about you?”

“I’m failing.”

“No, you’re not. I checked your work. It was all right. Shut up, Marco!” She teases with a grin.

I follow the directions back to the restaurant where we’re meeting Damion and park. But before we get out, I grab Luna and pull her against me. I crash my lips to hers and savor every fucking taste of her.

“You know I love you, right?”

“I know. I love you too.”

“Good girl. I’m going to remind you of that when we get back home,” I tell her. Her eyes light up, and I can see the lust dancing in them already. That’s when I pull away from her and climb out of the car with her right behind me. She reaches for me and wraps her hand around mine as we walk inside and find Damion.

Chapter 21

Luna

Damion had nothing but good things to say to us, and I think that shocked Marco a little. He didn’t expect his brother to tell him such good things about himself, but I can see that something is still off with him.

We drove back toward the apartment in silence because Marco looked lost in his own head. I didn’t want to ask questions and bother him because frankly, I’m tired after such a long day. Not that it isn’t a good tired, it is. I saw Davey, which was the highlight, but then hearing from Damion how well we’ve been doing just made it better. I was a little on edge, too, when he wanted to talk to both of us, but it all turned out well.

Marco pulls up to the curb and parks the car, but before we can get out, the doors are being yanked open, guns pressed to our heads, and we’re jerked from the car.

“Don’t you fucking touch her!” Marco roars as he tries to fight the hold the man has on him. I can feel the end of the gun as it presses to my temple, and I shudder. Who the hell is this? Is it Rafe? Did he finally catch up to me?

We’re dragged into the middle of the street and forced to our knees when I see him. My eyes widen as Rafe himself steps forward out of the shadows. Fuck. This is bad. This is so bad.

“We meet again,” he says casually as he looks at me.

“I was coming back,” I say quickly.

“Really? When did you plan on that? Before or after I killed mom?” A chill runs down my spine as the words leave his mouth. Marco is silent, taking it all in as he glances over at me. My lips part, but words don’t come out. He did this? He killed her? Why doesn’t that surprise me?

“You son of a bitch!” I scream before the person behind me moves around to punch me in the face. Marco roars and tries to get up, but they knock him back down.

“Don’t fucking touch her! I will kill every single one of you,” he growls this time. Rafe laughs. He doesn’t care what Marco says.

“In your position? I don’t think so. You see, that girl you’ve been fucking is mine.”

“I’m not yours!”

“Oh, you have been for years, Luna. I don’t know why you thought otherwise,” Rafe says, looking me in the eye. Internally, I cringe. I won’t let him see that. I won’t show him any sign of weakness.

“What do you want?” I ask him, but he laughs.

“You, Luna. I want you. I want you back home. I want you back as part of the crew.”

“She’s not your crew anymore,” Marco yells before he’s hit in the back of the head with the gun. He falls forward, his face hitting the ground as I scream. I move to try to help him, but I’m yanked back quickly.

Rafe moves closer before kneeling in front of me, grabbing my face in his hand roughly. He squeezes to the point of pain as he leans in to speak.

“Who do you think you are? Walking away from crew like that? You knew the rules when you joined, Luna, and you knew the rules when you left.” Rafe leans in and sinks his teeth into my cheek, causing me to scream. Marco doesn’t move, but I assume he’s knocked out from that hit to the head.
