I watch her walk away from her father as she tries to grab the bag out of my hand, and I give her a look that says try me. “So hostile,” she says as she struts up the steps and goes into the spare bedroom.

“Have fun tonight,” Zack says, “but not too much fun, we have family lunch tomorrow.”

“Good God, is this ever going to end?” I ask him and he chuckles.

“Soon.” He pulls open the door, slamming it behind him.

“Not soon enough,” I mumble, looking up to see Elizabeth come out of her room with a bag in her hand and walk into my room. “Not soon enough.”

“Elizabeth!” I shout her name up the steps. “We’ve got to go.”

“You can’t rush perfection,” she shouts back at me and I look up at the ceiling. I’m standing at the front door with Gavin, who is wearing black tailored pants and a black button-down shirt. I, on the other hand, went for black pants and a taupe sweater that has five buttons down the front, two of them left open. I can hear her heels clicking on the floor as she comes into view.

Gavin whistles from behind me. “You definitely can’t rush perfection,” he praises and I watch her walk down the steps. My mouth is watering when I see her outfit. Her white oversized knitted sweater falls off of one shoulder, the front is tucked into her black miniskirt that molds her body. But that isn’t what gets my mouth watering, it’s the black thigh-high boots that show you just a hint of her thigh between the top of the boots and the hem of the skirt. Her hair is wavy and draped over one shoulder. “You look?—”

“She knows what she looks like,” I mumble. “We have to get going.”

I open the door and hold it open for her and she steps out, followed by Gavin who, make no mistake about it, is checking out her ass.

He holds the door open for her and then his hand so she can step up into the cab of the truck, her skirt rising more, and I grit my teeth as my cock comes alive and stays that way throughout the drive to the restaurant where the joint party is being held. We can hear music already playing and I swear Joshua is going to owe me big-time for this.

“Here we go,” I say and pull open the door. He steps in, and I think ten seconds later, I hear the sound of Macy screaming his name. I step in beside Elizabeth and her perfume hits me right away, as she looks up at me and gives me one of her smiles. It’s not the same smile she’s been giving Gavin. It’s a different one, this one is more of a smirk and then a smile. Just for me.

Gavin turns Macy in his arms as she quietly cries, then puts her down. “I can’t believe this.” She puts her hands to her mouth and then looks over at Joshua. “You did this, didn’t you?”

“I might have,” he admits to her, and she walks to him, hugging his waist.

“He did help,” Gavin says, “but it was your sister-in-law who came to get me.”

“I guess me driving wasn’t a factor in all of this,” I mumble and she looks up at me again. I know we shouldn’t go down this road with each other. I know the best thing I can do for myself it to just let it go. I know all of this, yet the only thing I can think of is getting her back into my bed.

“Thank you, guys, so much”—Macy comes to us—“for bringing him here and taking good care of him.”

“The pleasure was all ours,” I say with a smile and Elizabeth looks down at the floor and then back up again. She gives her a hug and then walks away from us. “I need a drink,” she says and walks away from me and toward a couple of her cousins.

“Thanks, man.” Joshua comes to stand beside me. “I owe you big.”

“That you fucking do,” I agree.

“Let’s get something to eat.” He slaps my stomach as he walks away and goes to gather everyone to sit down.

The meal is quick and I’m sitting next to Joshua and Macy, along with Jack and Evie. Elizabeth at the far end of the table with Gavin as the two of them do a shot. She slams the shot onto the table and throws her head back and laughs at whatever he said. I take my phone out of my pocket and text her. I got her number two days ago when we both went to try on our outfits for the wedding.

Me: You look beautiful when you laugh.

She must feel the phone vibrate on the table as she turns it over and looks down, and then I can see her smile. The phone then buzzes in my hand, and I can’t help but bark out a laugh when I read her response.

Elizabeth: I know

Me: Meet me near the bathroom.

Gavin is talking to her and her cousin, along with a couple of other bridesmaids. Her eyes come to mine before she looks down and answers me.

Elizabeth: For?

Me: You’ll have to find out.

Elizabeth: I mean, you aren’t saying anything to get me there.
