Slowly, I’m being dragged toward unconsciousness.

I dread what will happen to me when I am lost to the dark. I fight to stay awake.

What if I never return to my lovers?

What if this is the last time that I see my home?

Tears gather in the corners of my eyes.

“Mistress, I don’t mean to talk back, but may I use my belt rather than these zip ties to bind him? I don’t want to damage him for you.” Heine is massaging my shoulder like he’s trying to soothe me.

I am going to snap his fucking tiny wrists in two.

“Aren’t you thoughtful all of a sudden?” Blythe laughs. “From what you told me when we first met about how this one slammed you into a wall and choked you, I thought that you would enjoy taking some revenge. Go on, I won’t stop you. Didn’t you tell me that this was thepsycho twin? It’s why I am taking precautions, but it makes him much more interesting.”

Asshole.

I can’t even brace myself for the kicks.

Silence.

I swallow.

Instead, I feel the soft, supple feel of leather sliding around my wrists and pulling them together. Yet it’s not too tight.

“He was protecting a friend,” Heine says, softly. It shocks me. “I deserved what I got. I don’t want to hurt him.”

“How mature of you. It appears that being broken and humbled suits you.” Blythe kicks out, catching Heine in the side. He yelps. “Maybe I should institute this training program for all billionaires.” Then she deliberately places the weight of one of her sharp heels on the back of my splayed hand. I grit my teeth in pain. “With Shay, I learned to go for the pain point. And that has always been you, his brother. Taking you will hurthim more than anything because being separated from you is his nightmare. He’ll offer anything to get you back, safe and unharmed. Even himself.”

A single moment of panic spikes through me, before my eyes slide shut, and I am dragged down into the black.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Freedom Mansion

D’Angelo

I bootthe front door open, too focused on kissing down Robyn’s neck to look where I am going.

“Did you see the way that the goal hit the bar and deflected in?” Shay says excitedly, leaning in the doorframe. “It was brilliant, right?”

He is wrapped in his leather jacket against the cold night air that is biting my cheeks.

Robyn is wearing her warm woolen coat, but I have already unwound her gray scarf and pushed it into her pocket.

I need proper access to her beautiful neck.

I lift my lips reluctantly away from the sensitive skin underneath Robyn’s ear, and she groans in disappointment. “Surprisingly, I did see your goal since I was on the ice with you. In fact, I was the one who passed the puck to set you up to score. I’m proud. You did remarkably well. It was a hard earned win. Now, enough talk. You’re too far away. How can I kiss you when you’re all the way over there?”

Shay laughs, pushing off the doorframe to join Robyn and me. The light of the moon makes his hair gleam like gold.

He’s an angel.

How did I get this lucky?

I snag Shay’s arm, dragging him hard against Robyn. He only laughs harder.

“Is this close enough?” Shay wraps his arms around Robyn’s neck and nuzzles to kiss over the exact spot that I was just worshiping.
