“And I suggested,” Fleet adds like I haven’t spoken, “that we make it a spicy one.”
Spicy?
“Is this an approved NHL coaching method?” I frown.
“Kinky mentoring is what I’m best at.” Fleet points at D’Angelo and then me. “Lowest goal scorer takes an exotic pole dancing class with Axel.”
I grin, relieved.
Fleet is truly nothing like our hardass old coach, Colton. In the same way that I’ve come to see that Kay isn’t Blythe.
I stuff my hands into the pockets of my jeans. “Easy. I love dancing.”
D’Angelo’s gaze becomes mischievous.
“Then you won’t mind joining him in his set on that stage, when I score more goals than you tomorrow…” He points at the intimidatingly large stage. “…in front of an audience.”
Blood rushes to my cheeks and my cock.
I feel light headed.
Dizzy.
D’Angelo may have made a career of dancing naked in public, but I haven’t.
Yet somehow, I’m also desperate to try that thrill because it’s like flying. And I understand now that being controlled and owned by D’Angelo only sets me free to fly.
I challengingly meet D’Angelo’s eyes. “I’m bloody scoring the most goals tomorrow, Sir.”
“Motivation,” Fleet chuckles, “works every time.”
When I hold the coffee out to D’Angelo, he takes it from me carefully. “Good boy.”
As if my strings have been cut, I drop to my knees.
It’s sudden and unexpected.
My mind becomes fuzzy.
I can feel someone petting my hair and talking gently to me.
All I know is that this is precisely where I want to be for the rest of my life.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Freedom Mansion
D’Angelo
“Then Grayson dodged like a legend. The Blue Jacket’s defensemen didn’t stand a chance.” Shay exuberantly slams through the front door to Freedom Mansion, waving his hockey stick in demonstration of our win. I wince, following him more sedately into the foyer with Robyn tucked in my arms. I’m exhausted but smiling. “He passed to Lucas. Then with only a second to go…he passes to me and bam…goal!”
He raises his hockey stick, mimicking his victory on the ice.
I’m glad that I’ve had to the sense to move any fragile antiques to the corners of rooms.
Shay looks happier than he has in months. He deserves to bask in this victory.
He’s earned it.
