Calita called herself every kind of fool as she lay naked on Simon’s bed. The shower hadn’t helped cool her off any. Her body still throbbed, her hands were shaking and she was feverish in her excitement. Simon threatened to spank her, and okay, she couldn’t get into that, but the way he looked when he said it... She shuddered as another wave of need washed over her body. He’d slowly been becoming more dominant in their interactions, and when she examined that, she didn’t have an issue with it. Was it weird that his dominance made her feel more secure?
She heard the front door open and then nothing. She tensed as the bedroom door opened. Simon stood there, his hair wild, and windblown, the smell of the forest on him and her body shot into heat. He growled, his pupils taking over his eyes, a dark black. Seemed he still wasn’t in control of his bear. Simon stalked to her, his movements graceful, but no less predator. She shivered as his grumbling snarl sounded in the room. Her legs fell open, almost of their own accord. His eyes flashed, and a hungry smile tipped his lips.
“Mine,” he growled and kneeled at the edge of his bed.
He tugged on her legs until she was on the very edge of the mattress, her sex exposed, and open to him. He licked his lips and she squirmed in anticipation. His gaze was intent, the concentration on his face sending a thrill through her. She threw back her head at his first lick to her folds. Her mouth parted as he made good on his promise to reward her patience. She gripped his hair, holding him in place as his tongue explored her sex. Electric shocks traveled from her toes up to the top of her scalp as he devoured her. The orgasm that washed over her body threw her further into heat. Simon gave her no time to come down, instead, fitting his erection at her clenching center. He worked himself in, his chest rumbling with hungry growls. She spread her thighs wider, greedy for the feel of him. Simon’s teeth scraped across her neck as he seated himself to the hilt inside of her.
“Fuck, Cali, the way you feel,” he murmured as he thrust.
She forgot about her insecurities and fear with his every stroke. His heated whispers against her skin pulled her further under his spell. Keeping her feelings separate from him was never an option. She knew that now. She’d been naïve to think she could enter a relationship with this man and not fall for him. Simon nipped her chin and her eyes sprang open as he hit the spot inside that sent her reeling.
“There you are.” His voice was barely a rumble.
Sweat dotted his forehead, and slicked their skin where they touched. She smoothed her hands down his back, lifting her hips to meet his every thrust. She bit her lip to keep her feelings from spilling from her mouth.
“Oh God,” she whispered as another orgasm crashed over her.
Simon sealed their lips together, his body tightening as he followed her over the edge. He fell atop her, his body heavy in a way that felt secure. She gripped him tight, not allowing him to turn over. She wanted that weight for just a moment longer.
“I’m too heavy, love.” He rolled them over.

She sighed and burrowed into his chest. Simon pushed his fingers through her hair and brought her closer to him for a kiss. His tongue tangled with hers slowly, his hands softly tracing her curves.
“I was worried about you,” he whispered against her lips as they pulled apart.
“I know, I’ll take better precautions.” She traced his dark brows.
He nodded. “Can you describe the man who attacked you?”
She tensed, not wanting to talk about it while they lay naked. She sighed and rolled over, pulling her shirt off his floor. She pulled it over her head and sat up with her legs crossed under her, closing her eyes. She’d never forget the man’s face.
“He was big, brown skin. His hair was cut low, his eyes were…” she shuddered. “Wide nose, large eyes, heavy brows. There was also a woman there.”
Simon cursed and rolled onto his back. “Miranda.” He turned back to her. “If you see the two of them again, I want you to go the other direction.”
“You know who it is?”
“I think it’s my ex-wife and her new mate.”
Calita reared back. “Really?”
“He has contacts on the Oversight committee, so I’ve treated the situation as a nuisance. This is too far though.”
“What are you going to do?”
“In the morning, I’ll call Nate and deal with it.” He reached for her and pulled her closer, his eyes glowing with hunger. “Right now, I’m going to enjoy having you safe in my arms.”
He lifted her shirt and threw it back over his shoulder and slid his hands between her legs.

A week at Simon’s house was spoiling Calita. What started out as only a couple days, had quickly changed once he got her in his bed. Each night when she brought up leaving, he’d talked her out of it. She shivered just remembering his hands caressing her as he convinced her to stay. She’d walked into her hotel room this morning and frowned at the impersonal space. She brushed her hair back from her forehead and considered how empty it felt. It really brought home to her that she’d been using this room as the last barrier to her committing to stay. She’d originally told Selena that she’d stay on a trial basis, but a year had passed and she’d refused to make a decision one way or another. Selena was amazing in that she didn’t push her, but coming from Simon’s place, she knew it was time to make that decision.
She had an appointment with Jerica and she needed something a little fancier than the jeans and t-shirts she’d carried with her to Simon’s house. It was the only reason she was at the hotel. Being at his house had affirmed to her that she could no longer live out of a hotel. No matter that her friend wasn’t making her pay for it. It was time she made moves to get her life back on track. Starting with a place to live, and a place for her bakery. She would take that step on faith and follow her dreams.
