“There is nothing simple about the things I want to do to your body.” He stepped a smaller bit closer, his bear clawing at his chest. “From the moment I saw you, my heart stuttered. My bear…” he breathed out a rough breath. “You’re everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman.”
She scoffed, “You got all that from a glance?”
She was shocked, that was clear. But, her scent drifted to him on the breeze and there was no mistaking her interest in him. The pulse at her throat beat a rapid tattoo against her skin. He thought on his talk with Selena and knew he’d have to take it slow with her. Where the hell the offer came from, he didn’t know. One moment he was walking with his mate getting to know her, and the next thing he knew, the horny bear in him decided to challenge its mate. It was a dangerous game, one he was nervous they’d lose. His bear had no such qualms. So, he put his trust in the animal, knowing its instincts had never failed them before.
Her hands shook as she patted the top of her head, which he’d noticed was her nervous gesture. He would back off for now; give her some time to think.
He smiled. “It’s a simple offer, Calita. You now know how I feel. Take some time, think about how you feel. When you know, come find me.”
“And if I agree to this?” She whispered.
“Then I will give you the ride of your life.”
He intertwined their fingers and brought her hand up. He kissed the inside of her wrist, inhaling her fragrance and committing it to memory. She sucked in a breath and he hid his smile. Yeah, she was interested. He would leave now before she could work herself into offended.
“Here is my number.” He gave her a card from the ranch, he’d written his cell number on the back. “Call me anytime. Even if it’s not about this, and you just want to talk, you hear?”
She nodded. Her tongue darted out and licked her bottom lip. “You would let me control the sex?”
“No, I let you control when and where. The how…” he paused, “The how, we figure out together.”
“No strings?” She looked surprised at her own question.
“None.” At least none for now.
“If I say no?” she tested.
“Then I let it go, no pressure.” The lie nearly stuck in his throat.
Her lips pursed in a moue of concentration. Simon decided he had pushed enough. Yeah, he should leave before he leaned over and took the kiss his bear was clawing at him to take.
“Call me.”
She nodded, her face a mask of concentration. He waved and turned away from her before his bear could push him into something Calita wasn’t ready for.
