She blew out a sigh of relief and jumped in the car.

Derrick watched their mate drive off and turned to the Felix. “What was that about?”

“Our mate is running scared, Beta, allow her her momentary sanctuary.”

He was confused, with his animal so close to the surface he wanted their mate, and watching her drive off was angering his panther.

Carlos turned to him and rubbed his cheek against the side of his face. His cat reached for its Alpha and basked in his calming presence.

“Two more days and we go on the hunt.” Carlos promised.

“Two days.” He said aloud, but it was meant for his cat. The animal swiped his insides, an angry swat that told him what he thought about the plan.

“Right, let’s go back to our new prowl members and reassure them.”

Derrick nodded, his gaze going back to the now deserted road his mate used to escape. “Yeah, let’s put on a good show.”

He’d allow her a respite for now. His mate didn’t know it yet, but his panther was a patient hunter. He’d bide his time, and enjoy every minute of it.
