He sighed, “That, my mate, has a bit of a twist to it.”

“What happened?”

“Yasim isn’t the one behind the attacks. A Felix named Alexander is.”

“I don’t know that name. So this prowl has been setting it up to look like Yasim?” She bunched her brows.

He shrugged. The name was all they’d been able to get from the enforcers they’d caught. No other information had been forthcoming. They had nothing regarding the alpha’s motive for targeting their prowl. Nothing about the Seer’s predictions were helping.

“Your grandfather said he smelled a familial connection.”

Her eyes widened. “Family?”

He nodded.

“What the hell is going on?”

He sighed. “I’ll find out before too long. I want guards on you all.”

“I don’t think he’s desperate enough to go after our children.”

“Neither do I, but just in case.”

“Of course,” she readily agreed. “Put as many guards on the children as you deem. I won’t argue with that. Should we send them out to the old prowl land?”

“I’d rather not have the children too far from us.” He grabbed her chin and brought her eyes to his. “And you, my love, will you allow extra security.”

She sighed and darted her eyes away. She wrapped her arms around his neck and snuggled in tighter. “For a little while.” Her voice was muffled, her reluctance clear. She leaned back from his neck. “I don’t want to be the distraction that causes us to lose what you’ve worked hard for.”

His heart swelled and he couldn’t help but take her lips in a scorching kiss. “I love you,” he whispered fiercely.

“Of that I have no doubts,” her whisper brushed his lips.
