“Remember Elder Jeremiah said Savannah had to come into her power first.”
Derrick nodded.
Carlos growled and clapped his hands together. “I want this guy found.”
His Beta sighed. “Has Charlotte left yet?
“With six enforcers. Her cousins are livid, and were ready to ride before I gave the order. I had to hold a good portion of them back. It wasn’t pretty. ” He wiped a tired hand over his face. “Let’s hope your new training pays off this time. I don’t know what I’d do if they came back empty handed.”
“Maybe we should send the kids to the country. It’s more isolated, easier to protect.” Derrick suggested.
His panther protested immediately. “I don’t want our family separated.”
No way did he want their kids away from him when so much was going on. He’d been lulled by the months of silence and he blamed himself. He wouldn’t say that they’d become lax, but he certainly hadn’t really expected them to go after his mate. It was a declaration of war. One he planned to answer.
Where rage had previously danced along his nerve endings, calm settled. A Zeta. He still wanted to kill something, but his thoughts were no longer clouded with hate. Derrick watched him carefully, his Beta’s mere presence calming his animal marginally. He knew until the bastard who touched his wife was in front of him, he still wouldn’t be placated.
“Is she resting?” Carlos asked, wincing a little at how rough he was with their mate.
She’d accepted him, giving back as aggressive as he’d given her. There was nothing but love in her eyes when she cupped his cheek. To think, she used to worry she wasn’t strong enough for them. He worshipped Savannah. She was perfect for him and someone would pay for touching her.
Derrick cut into his thoughts. “She’s asleep in that ugly shirt she loves so much.”
“I’ll kill him,” Carlos whispered. “If it’s Yasim, he’s dead.”
Derrick stretched out his feet and crossed his ankles on Carlos’ desktop. “Do I need to go over the problems that would bring to our prowl? Besides the shit time we’d have managing that much territory.”
Carlos wiped a hand over his face cursing Derrick for making so much sense. Even as he said it, he knew killing his father was a bad idea. He would find another way to punish the bastard. One council approved, especially since the male who put his hands on their mate would not live to see the end of this day.
As though reading his mind, Derrick chuckled. “Yes, let’s keep the broken laws to a minimum. It will give Theo and Brianne an easier time during council meetings.”
His panther calmed a little more at his co-mate’s laugh. His remaining anger simmering lower.
“Our mate did well today,” Pride filled him.
“Of course she did. Brielle did an amazing job training her, and Simon’s sparring prepared her for this very scenario.”
Carlos sighed. “She won’t accept more guards?”
Derrick grunted.
“Yeah I didn’t think so.”
He had maybe two days to keep her near him before she bucked his extra security measures. Hopefully he would have his cat’s possessiveness under control by then.

Carlos hung up the phone with his mother with a sigh. Samella had called, panicked about the attacks. He’d purposely stalled in telling her, knowing how his mother was. But, his sisters had beat him to it. She was the last call, in a long line of calls he’d had to make as he waited to hear back about Savannah’s attackers.
Someone had leaked word to the Panther council about the attack and they wanted reassurance that it would be handled within their parameters. He’d come dangerously close to tell them to go fuck themselves, but with Theo looking over his shoulder, he’d assured them that his prowl would, of course, handle it correctly.
He looked up as the door to his office slammed open. Charlotte strolled in, her white shirt dirty and ripped, her face and arms slightly bruised and scratched, but her expression, exultant.
“I’ve found them all, Felix.”
Carlos glanced at the clock. It had only been two hours. Pride for his young enforcer bloomed. He growled and rounded his desk to stand in front of her. He rubbed his chin over the top of Charlotte’s hair. He bent his head and held his forehead on hers, pushing his pride and reassurance to her.
She breathed deep and rubbed her head under his chin. She straightened, a smile covering her pretty face. “We put them all in separate rooms in the basement and left the enforcers you sent with me, to watch them.”
