Chapter 34

Carlos tightened his grip on her, burying his head in her hair. “Never scare me like that again.”

He took her mouth in an aggressive kiss that should have her scared but instead, heat rushed through her body and the need for her mate overrode everything. In the back of her mind she was sure it was Carlos and Derrick’s need flooding their link, and making her desperate to have him, but she didn’t care.

She needed the reassurance just as much as he did. He carried her to their bedroom, his mouth over the wound on her shoulder licking at it. With every lick of his tongue a spiral of heat warmed her until, slowly the numbness disappeared. A knock on the door brought the healer.

Carlos sat on the edge of the bed with her in his lap. The healer looked her over, touching the smaller scratches and wounds, infusing his power. She felt the warmth of his magic as he healed the deep claw marks on her shoulder.

“Enough,” she gasped.

Her mates’ need flooded their connection and the heat from the healer added to the maelstrom going on in her body. Carlos nodded the healer from the room.

“What’s wrong,amor?”

“Need,” she choked out, her back arching as the healing magic combined with the magic from her mates.

He lifted her, and she struggled to wrap her legs around his waist. He released his claws, tearing her skirt into strips. He backed her into a wall, and though he moved fast, he was gentle. Her back barely touched the wall. He let her up for air only to lean down and suck the skin of her neck into his mouth. He worried that spot, raked his teeth over his mark already there and entered her in one hard stroke.

She gasped at how good it felt and threw her head back as ecstasy whipped through her blood. He pulled her mouth down and devoured her, his tongue mimicking the motion of his hips. He released her mouth and licked over her shoulder again. Soothing heat warmed her from the inside, burning through the wound on her shoulder. There was nothing more healing than sex magic. And with the way her mate did it, more so. She crashed over the edge with a hoarse cry, him right behind her. He gentled his hands, and murmured how much he loved her. Apologizing to her for taking her so hard.

She brushed his curly hair back from his face, the length of it longer than when she’d met him. She liked the way it softened his face. She traced the savage planes of his features. She loved him so much and let him know with her eyes. Carlos licked over the bruises on her face, the healing saliva on his tongue soothing the throbbing pains. He leaned over her shoulder again, licking at the claw marks made by the other shifter. They were closed, the healer’s magic remarkable, another side effect of the Tribond.

He growled, his anger again moving down their link. Despite that, he ran a gentle hand over her hair.

“I was so worried.” He murmured.

Derrick entered the room. He put his forehead against Carlos’ and nuzzled him, offering Carlos comfort.

“Give me our baby.” He held out his arms and exhausted, Savi happily cuddled into his chest.

Derrick was gentle as he carried her into their bathroom. He sat her on the vanity, next to the bathroom sink she’d claimed as hers, making him and Carlos share the other. She shuddered when the skin of her legs hit the cold marble. Snarls rumbled his chest unbidden as he thought about what their mate went through. It had taken everything in them not to rush out the door when Simon had alerted them. There were enforcers closer to her who could get there faster. He’d damn near had to hold the Felix down.

He kissed her lips, running his hands across her skin. He licked at the wounds on her face, though he could tell by Carlos’ scent that he’d already attended to them. He moved down to the scratches all over her arms, illuminated in stark detail by the recessed lighting above them. Her exhaustion loomed through their connection, along with her residual fear and it ate him.

He scanned her body, but didn’t see or feel any major injuries. The healer had more than likely taken care of them, but he needed to reassure his panther. He pulled the tattered clothes from her body, smiling as he unsnapped what was left of her skirt. He knew the impatience Carlos felt. It rode him now, urging him to mark their mate again. He nuzzled at her shoulder, wishing he could reach the nurturing mark on the back of her neck.

Marking her with his scent to calm the cat, he rubbed his cheek against the top of her head. His panther was going crazy, battering against his body urging for the same primal claiming Carlos had reasserted on their mate. He walked over to the bathtub intending to make her soak as per the healer’s instructions.

She shook her head. “No bath, I want a shower.”

He moved to the other side of the bathroom, over to the enclosed tile shower and started the water, testing it to make sure it was warm enough.

“Hot,” she whispered. “I want it hot.”

“Baby.” He sighed. He went to her and lifted her from the sink.

“I can feel your cat. Take what you need, Beta.” Her voice was slurred with exhaustion.

“You can barely stand, Savi, my cat will wait.”

He cringed a bit at the thought. It would be a hard battle, but once he got her to lay down and rest he would go out back and let his cat run. That should settle them both. He guided her into the shower but she stumbled. He pulled her into his chest, entering the enclosed glass with her.

He hissed as the hot water pelted his back and plastered his shirt to him. Savi bit on his neck, her tongue tracing over it and Derrick realized he'd been set up. His mate lifted on her toes and pulled his mouth down for a kiss. A kiss that showed him that she needed his reassurance as much as he needed hers.

Her fingers made quick work of the button and zipper on his jeans, her impatient hands pushing down the wet denim. He separated from her mouth long enough to pull his sopping dress shirt from his body.

“I need you.” her urgent whisper shot heat straight to his cock.
