Chapter 22

Savannah would admit to being a little scared as her cousin studied her closet with a critical eye.

“I don’t have all day, Naomi, just pick something.” She finally growled.

“Hey, you asked for my help, let me work my magic.” Naomi groused.

She groaned and flopped back onto her bed. “This is crazy, I’m crazy for doing this, right?”

Naomi hummed, ignoring her.

What made her think she could just date two alpha men who claimed to be her mates? She knew they would play for keeps. It wasn’t just dating to them, it was just a necessary step to the inevitable.

She growled. “This is stupid, I don’t know why I agreed to this.”

“Well, you’ve agreed and that’s that.” Naomi murmured as she dug around in her walk-in closet. “I’ve seen them, they’re hot, and you’d be stupid not to agree.”

“It’s just a date, right?”

Naomi snorted but said nothing.

Her phone rang, it was her cousin Charlotte’s ringtone, a song from their favorite movie. “Yeah?”

“She agreed to meet with you, but it has to be today.” Charlotte didn’t bother with a greeting.

“Today?” She sucked in a shocked breath.

Charlotte scoffed. “What are you doing now?”

“Naomi’s helping me find an outfit for tonight.”

“For tonight?”

“Long story that ends with me agreeing to a date with Carlos and Derrick.” She rushed out.

“Well, then.” Charlotte said. She could almost see the curious expression that would be on her cousin’s face. “We’re on our way over.”

“What? Are you serious? Right now, Char?”

“I think it’s perfect really. Don’t you want to know before you go out with them?”

She did have a point. “Ok, we’ll be ready.” She ended the call and sat up. “That was Char.”

Naomi came out of the closet with a couple of dresses slung over her arm. “I heard, the Seer is coming over.”

“What do you think?”

“It’s not a bad idea, Savi. I mean, Aunt Toni was mad biased. Granddad kicked her out of the prowl. Perhaps some of the stuff she’d told us isn’t true.” Naomi joined her on the bed. “Plus, Charlotte said they call Joelle into the enforcer meetings now. They have to really trust her after what happened with Aunt Toni. Maybe she’s the real deal?”

“You think?”

“We’ll only know if we ask.”

Savannah exhaled a shaky, nervous breath. “And if she confirms that it’s us who brings down the prowl?”

Naomi shrugged, her eyes misting a little. “We already gave up the prowl, what would be different?” She whispered.

“I’ll lose my mates.” She shivered, it was the first time she’d admitted it aloud.
