Going shopping with our mate.

Putting our plan in affect? Was Carlos’ reply.

You know it.

A thumbs up emoji came next.

Savannah jerked to a stop at a redlight and he grunted in irritation.

Also, our mate need a new car.

Lol. already on it.

He put his phone in his pocket and focused on his mate. He and Carlos had come up with the plan to seduce their mate, one at a time. Today was his turn. He put a hand on Savannah’s leg, running a soft caress down to her knee. She whipped her head to him. He gave her his most charming smile before turning to watch the scenery. The muscle under his hand relaxed as he made no further moves. He kept his smile to himself.

He helped her get the kids out of the car and held their hands as they headed for the party supply store. It was crowded, which made him nervous, but he spotted Simon coming into the store a few people behind them. He relaxed and sidled closer to his mate.

He put an arm around her shoulder. “Any clue what we’re getting?”

She snorted. “Nope, my only hope is that whatever they find, this store has it in their size.”

“Fair enough.” He nuzzled into her neck. “You smell good.”

“Don’t start,” she murmured.

“I haven’t done anything.” Not yet anyways.

“Seducing me is not going to work.”

He nibbled the skin under her ear. “Didn’t I promise to behave?”

Her breath hitched, and she tucked her body closer to his. “This is you behaving?”

He trailed his fingers across shoulder towards her chest. “Compared to what I really want to do, oh absolutely.”

Jamie called her name, breaking up the sensual fog built around them. She turned and pressed her finger into Derrick’s chest. “Whatever you and Carlos are planning, it won’t work.”

He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “Didn’t anyone ever tell you about daring a shifter?”

She snorted and pushed out of his arms. He smiled at her retreating figure. Yeah, today would be fun.

Princess…zombie.

Carlos sighed and stared at the piece of charcoal in his hand. “I’m supposed to do what now?”

A tiny growl. “Papa, it’s easy. Just make my dress look dirty and bloody, duh.”

Dark eyes stared at him in exasperation, the tip of her fingers red from the fake blood spilled all along her dress and on the kitchen table. It was Halloween and Ella was irritated at his lack of understanding. Fortunately for him, Savannah had taken her shopping days earlier for her costume. Unfortunately, she’d changed her mind about being a fairy princess.

“Why does the princess have to be a zombie?”

“Papa.” She stomped her foot.

He sighed. “Fine.”

He spent the next twenty minutes transforming a perfectly decent princess costume into one that mimicked the walking dead. She held her hand up, haughtiness transforming her face from the placid child she’d used to be, to tell him…

“My mom will do the makeup part.”
