She chuckled. “That urge? I had my wife knocked up the same day I met her. I know how hard it must have been to return to the truck.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. “There’s more, but I don’t want to discuss it now. I’ll get moving as soon as I can, though.”

“Ok, I’ll try to keep any heat off you. Just make it as fast as possible.”

“Uh-huh,” I grunted as she hung up.

I sat in the driver’s seat for several minutes, staring at my rearview mirror for any signs of Tripp’s truck. But the nervous anticipation soon got to me, and sitting wasn’t an option.

I zipped up my coat, hopped out, and started pacing the sidewalk.

How was I going to tell Tripp what was going on and have him believe it?

I paused. I’d been miserable—feeling out of place—since I’d met Ollie. The only times things had feltrightwere when I was with him or Tripp.

Tripp had also mentioned feeling off.

Was he feeling it too?

A familiar rumble caught my attention. I looked up to see the bright green ShipUS truck pulling onto the street.

I marched over as he pulled up behind me. I still didn’t know what I was going to do, but something inside insisted that it would all work out.

Chapter 14 - Tripp

Something was off. Axel was outside his truck, but didn’t appear to be either going toward or coming from Ollie’s house.

In the middle of the holiday rush, his truck was just… sitting.

I double-checked that I was only there for a pickup, then hopped out.

“Ax?” I asked as he strode over. “What’s…?”

My question was cut off as he grabbed my shoulders and pushed me against the side of my truck. Then his lips were on mine, his tongue demanding entry.

I moaned, unable to deny myself what I’d been craving for weeks.

Axel’s hands shifted as our kiss deepened. One cupped my cheek, the other plunged into my hair.

I wrapped my arms around his waist to keep him close.

As much as I didn’t want the kiss to end, my lungs started screaming for air, and I had to break away.

“Wha…?” I tried again.

“Ollie’s in heat,” Axel interrupted.

There was a pang in my chest. The kiss hadn’t been for me, but because he needed an outlet. “Oh…”

“Our omegais in heat.”

I blinked. “Huh?”

Axel scrubbed a hand down his face. “We’ve had this same route for years now, right?”

“Yeah?”

“How many times were you offered what was considered a better route?”
