“Lasagne for dinner tomorrow,” Austin stated.
I forced a smile as I turned back to them. “I’ll be here.”
I blew out a long breath as soon as their door closed behind me. Would anything get through?
Chapter 8 - Declan
Istared at the door as Jamie left, then ran a hand over my hair. I turned back, only to see a distraught expression on Austin’s face.
“Come here,” I murmured, pulling him up from the couch and into my arms.
“Why does he have to torture us like that?” he asked with a sigh as he relaxed into my embrace.
I chuckled and kissed his temple. “Because he’s Jamie. He knows he can get a rise out of us.”
“He got a rise all right. I’m hard as a rock.”
“Same. Do we want to do something about it?”
Austin shook his head. “No. But I don’t want to sleep alone tonight.”
“Ok.”
Austin had spent more nights than not in my bed since Thanksgiving. Not that I blamed him.
Having Jamie around every evening was both wonderful and pure torture. His cologne lingered for hours after he’d left, and his sweet omega scent pervaded every inch of the apartment.
We could have probably handled that, but his teasing had ramped up too. Instead of the occasional joke or innuendo, he’d turned into the biggest tease I’d ever seen. Skinny jeans that hugged his perfect ass every day, moving in ways that made sure we couldn’t avoid looking at said ass, and comments that any other alpha would have drug him to the bedroom over.
Christmas nookie? Fuck. How were we supposed to take jokes like that?
“Come back to me,” Austin whispered.
“Sorry,” I replied, kissing his hair. “I was just stuck on Jamie’s last joke.”
Austin shuddered. “There’s no way he’s serious, right?”
“Of course not. It’s Jamie. Everything is a joke to him.”
“Ok…”

Silvery-blue light filtered in through the window and cast a glow on Austin’s face. He looked peaceful in his sleep—more peaceful than I’d seen him in over a week.
He hid it well when Jamie was around, but I saw the strain at the end of the day—the circles under Austin’s eyes, and the tension in the way he carried himself. He was fighting instinct a bit more every day. Something inside him insisted that he drag our omega off for breeding, and it was getting harder to resist.
I was going to have to put my foot down if Jamie’s little game continued for much longer. It had been tolerable at first but was beginning to verge on cruel. It was clear that he’d figuredout that we were interested in him and had decided to tease us relentlessly.
It wasn’t the first time we’d been on the receiving end of Jamie’s shenanigans, so he probably thought it was no big deal. But this was different.
Austin was hurting. So was I.
Jamie was the only omega Austin and I had ever wanted, and it felt like he was dangling himself like a carrot that would be snatched away.
Austin whined softly in his sleep, and I kissed his forehead. He was another dilemma.
The more I thought about it, the more I knew that in terms of omegas, it was Jamie or nobody. But there was another man I needed in my life: Austin. It didn’t matter that he was another alpha. Being with him felt right. We may have started fucking to blow off steam, but it had morphed into something else.
