I blinked, then studied him. Finally, I decided that he was somewhere in his the low-fifties.
“Fifty?” somebody guessed.
He smiled, his white teeth a bright contrast to his blue skin. “Older.”
“Sixty?” another voice called.
“Older.”
“Seventy?” a third person asked, disbelief in his tone.
Eashai chuckled. “My age is approximately eighty-seven of your Earth years.”
We fell into stunned silence.
“The reason for the query was to illustrate that we are older than we appear,” he stated. “Between the now-extinct Lalylltiar DNA that we carry and advancements in medical technology, our average lifespan is between a hundred and twenty to a hundred and fifty Earth years, with some elders being over a hundred and seventy-five.”
He licked his lips. “That longevity has helped to keep our population from collapsing during this period of low reproduction. We are able to sire and bear children for many years past Earth norms. But it also corresponds to a youthful appearance far beyond that which you may be accustomed.”
He paused. “We are aware that the act of partnering with somebody who is considered underage is taboo on your world, and we feel the same. The youth should not bear the weight of reproduction before they are of a healthy mental and physical age. However, due to our increased lifespan, your potential partners will appear much younger than a similarly-aged man birthed here on Earth. Let me reassure you, they are all of healthy childbearing age and, in most cases, have lived several Earth years longer than you. The youngest of our volunteers would be in his thirties, and the eldest over sixty.”
He frowned and seemed to think for several seconds. “During my last presentation, I was asked a question about something called an age gap. It was explained to me that it can also be considered taboo, hence the reason for my addressing it today.”
He took a deep breath, and it struck me how many of his mannerisms were fundamentally human, even if he did come from another planet.
“This concept was explained as the danger of the older partner being able to manipulate the younger based on life experience. We understand the concern, but regarding life on Earth, you are the more experienced partner. We have worked to educate our volunteers about life on this planet and what they may expect, but education cannot compare to being born and raised here.”
We were silent as his words sunk in.
“The majority of you will also be more experienced sexually,” he continued. “Due to our mating practices, casual intercourse is almost nonexistent on our planet.”
A murmur went through the audience at that statement.
Doctor Wallace cleared his throat after a moment, and that seemed to spur Eashai to speak again.
“Yes… right…” he stammered. “The basics of what you can expect. Anatomically, we are similar. Penetrative intercourse would be as if you were with any other man on Earth, with only some differences in internal anatomy. Those differences will ensure that your penis angles toward his cervix.”
“Question,” somebody called.
“Yes?”
“Um…” the man started. “Prep? Umm… cleaning? How careful do we need to be to… umm…?”
Eashai blinked, then Doctor Wallace spoke. “They engineered their anatomy to take that into account. They’re… self-cleaning… so don’t require that kind of prep.”
“Ah,” Eashai stated. “Now I understand the question. Yes, that will not be a concern. However, you may need to explain the purpose to your mate if you wish to receive him into your body, as it will be something with which he is unfamiliar.”
“And the other kind of prep?” somebody else called. “Lube? Stretching?”
Eashai nodded. “We are also self-lubricating, and our bodies respond quickly to stimulation, though some…” he paused and looked at Doctor Wallace.
“Fingering,” Doctor Wallace clarified.
He turned back to us. “Some fingering will be necessary.”
I nodded, along with most of the men I could see.
He stood tall. “I shall now continue. The gestation period is similar to that of Earth humans. Lalyllte gestation is forty-two Earth weeks, compared to the human forty. Your mates will experience side effects similar to that of human women: hormonal changes, nausea, increased sensitivity to flavors and odors, as well as various cravings. Delivery can be either natural or surgical.”
