I kissed him again. “For as long as I can.”

He smiled and settled in my embrace again. “I have found the best mate,” he murmured.

I kissed his shoulder. “I love you too, my Lumi.”

Chapter 10

Icouldn’t stop staring at my beautiful Lumi. He’d turned in his sleep and had his face pressed to my chest. Soft morning light streamed in from the window, highlighting nuances in his pale purple skin that I hadn’t noticed the night before: the slightest bit of underlying rosiness to his cheeks, his long brown eyelashes and how they rested against his skin, a smattering of barely visible freckles dusting his nose.

On any other day, I would have been restless staying in bed for so long. My body was accustomed to the routine of get up, PT, breakfast, and work. But I was off-duty and wasn’t about to disturb my sleeping mate. Especially since—if I had anything to say about it—we had a full day of fucking to look forward to. He needed all the rest he could get.

I trailed one hand down his side, pausing where he was just a bit softer around his middle. How long until he’d be round there, our baby growing inside him?

There was a soft knock at the door. “Yes?” I asked, hoping to be loud enough to be heard but not wake Lumi.

“Extended hours in the mess for five days,” replied a voice from the other side. “Breakfast will be served until oh nine hundred, hours for other meals will be posted on the door.”

“Thank you.”

The sound of boots continuing down the hall. I settled back to resume cuddling my sleeping man but saw that the sound had awakened him.

“Sorry,” I murmured, kissing his forehead. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

He shook his head and smiled. “It is ok. What was that?”

“Somebody telling us about longer hours in the mess hall.”

He scrunched his nose. “Mess hall?”

I chuckled. “Where we can go to eat.”

“Oh. I am not hungry yet.”

I grinned, kissed him, then ground my hard cock against him. “Neither am I, at least not for food.”

Lumi groaned as he looped his arms around my neck, allowing me to roll him to his back and settle between his legs.

We had plenty of time to eat, and making love to him seemed a much better way to start the morning.

???

It had been a week and a half since I’d met Lumi, and I already couldn’t imagine my life without him. He was everything I wanted in a man: kind and playful, but strong and determined.

His determination was a thing of beauty all its own. After only two days of eating in the mess hall, he’d decided that he was going to open a cafe in the little shopping district of the base. He’d worked in a restaurant on Lyll, loved cooking for people, and wanted to continue doing it. He poured over the various agreements and methods for sourcing ingredients between bouts of lovemaking and asked me about my favorite foods while we cuddled.

There were layers upon layers of red tape to get things into the secret base, but he was going to make it happen. And the first step was introducing him to cooking on Earth.

We walked down the residential street, hand-in-hand, until I stopped in front of a ranch-style row house.

“Avery?” Lumi asked as I led him up the short walk to one of the front doors.

I pulled a key from my pocket and turned to him. “Welcome home, my Lumi.”

His eyes watered. “Our home?”

I nodded. “Our home. I was given the assignment and keys only a few hours ago. There’s no furniture or anything else yet. We’ll have to browse the available options they contracted and furnish it from our allowance. But I wanted you to see it, and the kitchen you’ve been looking forward to.”

Lumi threw his arms around me, and I held him tight for several minutes.
