I sighed. “Another time. I’ve got an appointment with my realtor this afternoon.”

“Oh? The hot one from the party?”

“That’s the one.”

“You sure you’re house hunting, not alpha hunting?”

I laughed. “I wouldn’t say no to a date with him, but he’s been nothing but professional.”

“I thought you were interested in that lacrosse player.”

“Shane? Yeah. But…” I pursed my lips. “You ever get the feeling a guy is taken, but can’t say for sure?”

“Of course, but does he smell like he hangs around an omega?”

I shook my head. “Only like other alphas. But I’ve only really talked to him when he’s around the team. Plus his roommates are all alphas.”

“Your realtor is one of the roommates, right? Why not ask him if Shane is knotting somebody on the regular?”

“This house sucks…” I deadpanned. “Tell me how to get on the good end of your roommate’s dick.”

“I don’t know if I’d be that direct, but you’re already there. Why not gather intel?”

“Maybe because finding a place to live is more important than getting a knot.”

“Get the dick, move in with them.”

I snorted. “Yeah… right.”

“No harm in aiming high. Didn’t you tell me that your coworker just landed four alphas?”

“Ash? Yeah, and he’s loving it. But things like that don’t happen to everybody.”

“Not if you think like that. Surely if he can get four, you can get two. You like both, they already live together, I think it could work.”

I laughed. “You just keep thinking that. I’ll be more realistic.”

“Well that’s boring.”

“Better boring than disappointed.”

Derrick retrieved a set of keys from a small lockbox, opened the door, then stepped aside so that I could walk in first.

I caught a whiff of his cologne as I moved past, and had to hold back a whimper of desire. It mingled with his natural scent in a bouquet that I wanted to surround myself with.

“Two bed, two bath, and a den that could be converted to another bedroom or used as an office,” Derrick explained as he closed the door behind us.

I nodded as I looked around. The living room was bright and airy, with a bay window facing the street.

“Now here comes the sticking point,” Derrick said as he stepped towards an arch. “The kitchen.”

I walked over to get a look, and let out a long sigh.

“I was afraid of that,” Derrick replied.

I walked in, just to actually give it proper consideration, but I immediately hated it. I felt more like I was in a wide hall, rather than a kitchen. A sink and cabinets lined the outer wall, with the requisite window over the sink. Against the inner wall was the fridge, stove, and more cabinets.
