“Go on,” Ash said. “It’s only a few minutes, I’m already here, and you do enough overtime that nobody should bitch about you bailing a few minutes early. Go take the test and celebrate with your mates.”

I nodded and stood. “Thank you.”

He grinned and waddled to his chair. “Do me one favor?”

I cocked my head to one side. “Carbs?”

He laughed. “That sounds great, but text me with the good news after you tell your mates.”

I smiled. “Ok.”

“I’d stand to give you a good luck hug,” he said. “But they all finally fell asleep, and if I move one of them will use my bladder as a trampoline.”

I walked over, leaned in, and gave him a side hug. “Will that do?”

He nodded. “Works for me.” Then he grabbed my hands. “Seriously, good luck. I have faith, but I hope you get the result you want.”

“I’ll text you once I know.”

“I’ll be waiting.” He grinned. “Now go on, get out of here.”

“I’m going. See you tomorrow”

“Tomorrow.”

Snow was just starting to fall as I left the library, and for a moment I had to stop and marvel. It had been less than a year since Ash had met his mates, now he was heavily pregnant with triplets, and due in only a couple months.

And I… I was going to find out if I was pregnant too.

The small plastic bag seemed almost heavy as I walked to my car, and my eyes flitted to it on the passenger seat every time I stopped. Such a tiny thing, but held the potential for either tremendous joy, or devastating disappointment.

I pulled into the driveway and blinked. I’d expected Roland and Shane to be home, but Derrick and Vince’s cars were there as well.

“Maybe a slow day with the weather?” I mused as I grabbed the bag and got out of the car.

“Hey guys, I’m home,” I said as I walked in, only to see them all sitting in the living room, staring at the coffee table—where there were four similarly sized bags.

I gaped, then burst into laughter while holding up my own bag. “Look what Ash brought me.”

Smiles broke out across all their faces as they walked over and surrounded me. We spent a couple minutes exchanging kisses, before Vince finally stated the obvious. “I guess we all had the same idea.”

I nodded. “It seems that way.”

“Well,” Roland prodded. “Shall we find out if there’s a bun in that oven?”

I nodded, suddenly having to hold back tears. My mates were just as excited and nervous as I was.

My hand tightened around the plastic bag, then I stepped back from the embrace. “Right… I’m going to go read the instructions, then…” I blew out a long breath.

“Do you want us with you?” Shane asked.

“To watch me piss?”

Everybody started laughing.

“While you wait,” Derrick clarified.

I thought about it for a moment, then shook my head. “I… I’ll let you know once the results appear.”
