He shrugged. “I like my job.”

“As long as you’re happy, it doesn’t matter whether or not you went to college. It’s been pushed hard, but if you don’t need it then why waste the time and money? Besides, you can always take classes in the future if you decide that a degree is necessary for your career path.”

Miguel smiled. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

He glanced down. “There can be a stigma sometimes. The guys don’t care, but… Others do.”

I frowned. “Fuck ‘em.”

His gaze shot up to meet mine. “What?”

I shrugged. “Fuck ‘em. It’s your life, not theirs. If you’re happy, then that’s what matters.”

Miguel smiled at me, fondness in his brown eyes. “Thank you.”

I smiled and stood. “I’ve gotta get back to work. See ya Thursday?”

He nodded. “See you Thursday, and I’ll say bye before I leave.”

“You’d better,” I teased. Then I waved as I pushed the cart into the next aisle.

“Hey hot stuff,” Tyler purred, leaning on the counter.

I grinned. “Time for the weekly ritual of reserving for another week?”

He nodded. “Last time.”

I froze. “Last?”

“Yep. Last game of the season is that third Saturday out. Final review is after that.”

I swallowed. I’d gotten used to seeing the team every Thursday night. It had become the highlight of my week. “Oh…”

“Aw,” Tyler smiled. “Gonna miss us?”

“Maybe.”

“Would it make things better if I promised to come visit you at work once in a while?”

“Just make it on a different day than Garrett and Miguel,” I replied with a smirk.

“Oooh.” His gray eyes glittered. “And what if I don’t?”

“Then I won’t be able to give any of you adequate attention and still work.”

“We’ll just have to see you outside of work then.”

A blush heated my cheeks. “You don’t have to.”

“What if we want to?”

“I… um…”

Tyler stood and laughed. “Think about it. For now though, it’s time for me to get up there.”
