“Maybe, but if so that’s a shitty way to do it. I only had about five months on my lease anyway, so he could have just told me that he didn’t intend to renew.” He shook his head. “No, I think the guy is really just delusional enough to think that I’ll roll over and take it, or that somebody else will rent at that price.”
“Fuck. If he’s that slimy then you’d better take plenty of photos when you leave.”
“That goes without saying. I’ve also got photos from when I moved in, just to prove the condition.”
“That’s good. So what’s the plan? Find a new place to rent?”
Jace blew out a long breath. “Actually, I’m thinking about buying.”
“Really?”
He nodded. “I’ve got a bit saved up I could put to a down payment, and I looked into government programs for first-time homebuyers. I’ve got an appointment at a bank tomorrow to see what kind of loan I could get pre-qualified for.”
“Is sixty days even enough time to find a house and close?”
He shrugged with a sigh. “Who the hell knows? But I’m gonna try. I only have to give thirty days of notice to vacate in my lease, so I’ve got a couple weeks to figure out if I’ll be able to buy a house quickly, or if I’ll just have to suck it up and pay more the last few months. Either way though, I’m not renewing.”
I nodded. “Give notice to vacate anyway. I’m moving in with the guys, for obvious reasons. I don’t have an easy way out of my lease, so if you need a place to crash you can stay there while you look. I’ve got six months left, which should be plenty of time for you to get yourself all sorted.”
“I appreciate it. Hopefully I won’t have to take you up on it though. Some landlords will work with you if you can find a new tenant to take over.”
“They might, or might not. I haven’t talked to the management company about it yet. They typically handle things, rather than my landlord.”
“Been too busy for day-to-day matters?” he asked, waggling his eyebrows.
My face heated. “Something like that. Plus it’s only been a few days.”
“I get it, settling into your life with four alphas.” He laughed. “Hell… How the hell do they manage sleeping arrangements for five people? How did they for four?”
I grinned. “They have something called an Alaskan king mattress. Damn thing is nine feet by nine feet. It’s huge.”
“And you all all dogpile on there or something?”
“Something like that. I’m still trying to fully grasp sleeping arrangements, but it seems to work.”
“And do they um…” He cleared his throat and looked around. “With each other?”
I snickered. “Oh hell yeah, and it’s hot as fuck. There were a couple times when one or two of them would be knotting me, and a a couple of them would be fucking right beside me. They’re all vers, and have said that they have no problem with me topping, though I haven’t tried yet.”
Jace coughed. “Wait… back up. Did you say two of them knotting you?”
I nodded.
“How does that work?”
“Very carefully, but damn is it absolutely incredible.”
He squirmed slightly. “Now I’m jealous. You’re lucky as hell.”
I nodded. “You’ll find an alpha soon though, I’m sure of it.”
“I dunno…”
“What about Shane? You’re clearly interested. Talk to him at the party next weekend.”
He sighed. “I just get the vibe that he’s taken.”
“Apparently his roommates will be there. Perfect time to get some intel.”
