“Just as long as I get to pleasure you too.”
“Being with you is already the most pleasurable thing I can imagine.”
He chuckled sleepily. “Sweet talker.”
“The sweetest for you.”
“Your knot feels so good,” he mumbled. “So perfect…”
Justin’s breathing evened out, and I knew he’d fallen asleep.
He still faced so many challenges, but now I knew for sure he wouldn’t be facing them alone. I would always be at his side, as his mate.
“I love you, omega-mine,” I whispered as I pressed a kiss to the new bond mark. Then I settled down to rest while my knot kept us locked together.
Chapter 25 - Justin
~February~
Iwhined, unknotted my tie, and tried again.
“You ok?” Max asked, coming into our bedroom, concerned expression on his face.
“I can’t get this tie right,” I griped.
He walked over, rested his hands on mine, then gently took the strip of fabric from me. “Is it really the tie that’s the problem?”
I sighed and shook my head. “I don’t want to go. But… I want to see the bastard sentenced too.”
Max leaned in and kissed my forehead. “He’ll go to jail, it’s just a matter of how long.”
I blew out a long breath. “I wish the prosecutor hadn’t offered a plea deal.”
Max deftly tied my tie, then smoothed it down my chest. “Me neither, but I also understand it. A judge might not have been happy with how you set him up to be caught, but would have likely given him the conviction. However, if he insisted on a jury it could have gone another way.”
“He still broke into two places in an attempt to stalk me.”
Max tilted my chin up and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “They’re really only dropping one charge, omega-mine—breaking into Kaleb’s apartment. They’re still getting him for breaking into yours to plant those cameras and bugs, the unlawful surveillance, and they’re refusing to drop the stalking charges. Besides, the judge still has discretion on the sentence. The plea was only for him to admit guilt to those three in return for them not sticking him with the other breaking and entering.”
Max pulled me into his embrace. “Besides, there’s a huge benefit to this.”
“What’s that?”
He ran his hand up and down my back. “You’ll know that he’s behind bars for the rest of your pregnancy. You won’t have to worry about him violating the restraining order.”
I hummed. Max knew me. I hadn’t said so, but it was something I had been afraid of. I didn’t want anything happening to our baby.
“I’ll be right beside you in the audience, and we’ll pick a spot so that you can easily see me when you have to go up and speak. Ok?”
“Thank you.” I closed my eyes and rested my head against his chest, breathing his warm scent deep.
“Just think, unless the judge rejects the plea, it’ll be over after today. He’ll be behind bars, and out of your life forever.”
“Yeah.”
Max ran his teeth over my ear. “I promise to knot you later if it’ll make you feel better.”
I groaned. Pregnancy hormones had hit me hard and many days I felt like I needed a knot more than I needed to breathe.
