I shook my head.

“How about I rent a movie and we order a pizza or something?”

I smiled. “That sounds nice.”

A quiet evening with the kind alpha? It actually sounded perfect.

Kaleb nearly crushed me with his hug. “I’m so sorry for being away when you needed me.”

I shook my head and leaned against him. “It’s not your fault.” I sniffled, happy to have him back. “How was your vacation with Frankie?”

Kaleb grinned. “It was amazing. I’d never thought I was a spa resort kind of man, but I’m a convert now. Nothing like soaking with him, couple’s massages…” he sighed happily.

“I’m happy for you.”

He smiled, then peered around to where Max had disappeared into the kitchen. “And you? What’s happening here?”

I blinked. “Max? He’s…” I licked my lips. The longer I spent around him, the more I realized that it was more than just feeling safe. He was kind, gentle, and fun to be around. He was exactly the kind of alpha I’d always wanted.

Kaleb bumped my shoulder. “Don’t pretend that you’re not interested.”

I sighed. “It’s…” I stood and squared my shoulders. “It’s not the time for that discussion. I’ve got to get this fucking asshole out of my life.”

Kaleb studied me for a few seconds, then nodded. “Ok. What’s the plan? You said you already put cameras in my apartment?”

“Yep. Cameras are up and look good. What I’m thinking is we head to the hotel where I’m supposed to be staying, grab my car, then come back so you can help me pack,” I replied, making air quotes around the word ‘pack.’ “Max’s friend said there are bugs or cameras of some kind in my apartment, so we said before that I had to wait for you to get back before I could go over there. Hopefully the asshole bought it, thinks that I had no access, and tries to make a move there.”

Kaleb frowned. “Ok. I don’t like that you’re in danger, but if you think he’ll get caught…”

“I know, but I either try to get him with something I can pin on him, or give in and let him wear himself out. Is it dangerous? Probably. But how much more danger would I be in if I didn’t do it? He already broke into my apartment to make a point, how much longer under he gets violent?”

Kaleb sighed. “When you put it like that…”

I blew out a long breath. “I wonder how many other omegas he’s gotten away with this with. It stops with me.”

“Ok.” He paused. “So what else do you need from me?”

“Just your support.”

“You know you have it.”

“I’m sorry in advance that your apartment will likely be broken into.”

Kaleb chuckled. “There are cameras there. We’ll catch him.”

I smiled.

“So… you’re not actually staying in my apartment, right?”

I shook my head. “No. I don’t want to be where he thinks I am.”

“Do you want me to ask Frankie if you can stay with us? There’s a spare room.”

I glanced towards the kitchen. “Actually…”

Kaleb chuckled at the same time Max appeared.
