“You sure?”

“Yeah,” I grumbled. “I don’t want an upset stomach while trying to push him out.”

“Ok. Where are you so I can pick you up?”

“I can…” I started, then remembered that it wasn’t safe to drive while in labor. “Um, the bridal boutique on Fifth.”

“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes. Let the employees know and we’ll deal with your car later.”

 “Ok.”

 “See you soon.”

 “Soon,” I echoed.

I ducked into the boutique and caught the eye of the manager, explained that I was in labor, and that we’d get my car out of the lot as soon as possible. Then I packed all my gear into the trunk and texted Justin the good news as I waited.

I’m jealous that you get to serve eviction papers,Justin texted back.Mine still makes me sick every day, and I have two more months.

I sent back a teasing emoji, and reminded him that he’d had an easy first trimester while mine was hell.

 Frankie’s here,I texted a minute later.

Let me know when you’re on the way to the hospital.

 Will do.

Lunch was smaller than I would have liked, but I figured that it was better safe than sorry. I could eat as much as I wanted once the baby was born. Then it was a waiting game. We called the hospital to let them know that I was in labor and confirmed the timing between contractions they wanted.

We ended up spending the afternoon cuddling and playing video games until it was time to go. Then it was another few hours of waiting once we reached the hospital.

Finally a nurse told us that it was time to go to the delivery room.

I almost cried when my mom started walking beside Frankie, and Justin joined on my other side, already waddling from his own pregnancy.

All my most important people were beside me for one of the most important days of my life.

Arms wrapped around me from behind as I watched my son sleeping in the bassinet.

“You coming to bed?” Frankie asked, kissing my neck.

“Yeah,” I sighed happily, leaning against him. “Just watching him.”

“It’s hard to stop, isn’t it?”

 “Mm-hmm.”

“Do I need to move him closer to the bed?”

I chuckled. “I’ll trip over it if it’s any closer.”

“I take it that’s a yes?” Frankie teased.

I tore my eyes from our son and turned in my mate’s arms, giving him a kiss. “I think it’ll be ok.”

He smiled against my lips. “Let me know if I need to scoot it next to the mattress.”
