“Yeah?”

“And you’re a burglar.”

“Ok?”

“Come on,” he urged. “Get the hormones out of your head for two seconds and put the thoughts together. Aladdin was a…”

“Thief,” I replied, finally starting to understand.

He laughed. “Find a time when he’s alone, and go steal his heart.”

I laughed. “You’re such a dork.”

“But a dork with good ideas.”

“Yeah.”

I watched my alpha, and since I’d identified him, I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. I needed to memorize every moment; immortalize the night in my soul.

I soon saw that he had an easy smile, and people laughed often around him. Even people whom he seemed to just meet were quickly engaged with jokes and his lightness.

I could already imagine a life filled with fun.

Still, I couldn’t wait to learn more. What was his name? What did he do? What was his favorite food, drink, color?

There were so many questions, and while I had a lifetime to learn the answers, I wanted to know as much as I could about him.

My alpha seemed to be close to Sean and Lowell, and it was clear that they’d been friends for years.

To think I’d been so close, just having met Sean, and still had no idea how he was connected. But fate had stepped in, and maybe that was how I’d gotten the city gig in the first place, fate leading us to this night.

Justin was amazing, playing decoy while I kept tabs on my alpha.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, he broke away from the other two.

“I’m going in,” I told Justin.

“Go get him,” he replied.

I turned and hugged my friend. “Sorry to ditch you so early in the party.”

He shook his head. “I can’t think of a better reason to. Call me in a few days to catch me up?”

One of my eyebrows went up in response.

Justin chuckled. “You smell like pre-heat. I figure you’re gonna be busy for a day or two.”

I smiled, stepped back, and gave him a tiny wave. Then I took a deep breath as I started toward my alpha.

It was forever, and a blink of an eye as I closed the space between us. Then he was right there, and I reached out and grabbed the lamp dangling from a sash at his waist.

“Do I rub this for my wishes, or do I rub something else?”

Chapter 10 - Frankie

The scent in the air increased, and the longer I was there the less I could ignore it. I couldn’t identify it as a cologne, which meant that it was probably a person. But I’d never reacted so strongly to an omega’s scent before.

Part of me wanted to think that it was a sign, but I’d never given much thought to anything more than finding a good man whom I could love.
