I growled, low and angry in my throat. I wanted to find the other alpha and make him feel the pain he’d put my omega through. Even a fraction of what Tristan had endured would break most men.

“My parents wanted me to contest it, I was bonded after all and courts are highly against bond severing. Their status had risen in the community thanks to me, and they knew a divorce would reverse that. But I didn’t have the strength. I knew it would never get better, so I gave him the divorce without a fight.

“The only one who supported me was my older sister, who’d moved to Austin after college and had an outside view of everything I’d been through.”

He slumped against me, and I knew that was all.

“I’m so sorry,” I murmured, running my nose through his hair.

“I haven’t been able to talk about it,” he admitted after several minutes. “Not even with my therapist.”

“Thank you for trusting me,” I whispered.

Silence fell between us for several long minutes.

“What now?” he asked, trembling.

“We move forward… together,” I replied. “I’m here, and I’ll always be here, because you’re the most incredible man I’ve ever met. That asshole didn’t deserve a man as good as you.”

“Are you sure?” he asked, voice shaking. “I can’t be bonded, I can’t give you children.”

I lifted his chin and kissed him softly. “You matter more to me than any of that. We can love without a bond. If you’re ever ready in the future we can consider adoption.”

My thumb traced across his cheek. “I haven’t known you long, but I can’t imagine my life without you. I love you Tristan, and I know in my soul that I’ll always love you.”

Fresh tears slid down his cheeks. “I love you too.”

I kissed him again. “We’ll go slow. I know you’re still healing, but I’ll be by your side whenever you’re ready for the next step.”

“Thank you.”

“I do have one request though.”

“What?”

“Don’t push yourself for me. Talk to me first if you think I have expectations. You don’t have to do it all. We’re partners. Ok?”

He started crying again as he nodded. “Ok.”

The road ahead of us was long, but I knew he was the omega I wanted to go down it with.

Chapter 13 - Tristan

~May~

“This is the big week, isn’t it?” Joey asked as I took a seat in his office.

I smiled. “It is. Chase’s friends will help me move into his apartment this weekend.”

“How do you feel?”

“Good. I’m excited. It means more time together.”

“Any concerns?”

I blew out a long breath. “We still haven’t been intimate. We haven’t tried since the Valentine’s Day disaster.”

“Understandable.”
