Another few seconds of silence, then Lowell spoke.

“Ok, if anybody’s an asshole to your omega, send them our way. We’ll beat the shit out of them.”

I stared at my friend, jaw slack.

 “Damn straight!” José cheered.

“Are you guys serious?” I asked.

“Look,” Frankie said. “Last week you were out of your mind thinking you’d lost him after only having seen him three times. Today you can hardly concentrate, you're so obviously in love. It’s clear to all of us that he’s the man for you. So that leaves us only one choice, support the hell out of both of you. There will be people who will judge you, and we’re not going to put up with that shit.”

 “I love you assholes.”

“That’s what friends are for,” Alan finished. “Now, back to the game. I’ve got to earn back a bit of my buy-in before I go home.”

 This was bliss.

Tristan was nestled in my arms on my couch as we watched a movie.

I’d noticed during our second date that he wasn’t very comfortable in public, so for our third I decided to cook for him.

We’d followed-up a dinner of baked chicken and steamed vegetables with a movie, and he’d made himself comfortable against me almost immediately.

I never wanted it to end.

The ending credits started, and I tightened my arms around him.

 “May I kiss you, Tristan?”

He turned and blinked several times, then nodded. “Yes.”

I leaned in and pressed my lips to his, savoring the soft sigh of pleasure that escaped him.

I’d take each day as it came, at his pace.

All that mattered was that we moved forward together.

 Chapter 11 - Tristan

 ~Beginning of February~

“How are things going with Chase?” Joey asked, pen poised over his notepad.

I licked my lips. “Good, almost too good.”

“What do you mean by too good?”

I took a deep breath. “Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve him. He’s kind and patient. He never pushes for more than I’m comfortable with. But I feel guilty too, like I’m the one holding back our relationship.”

“Has he ever made any indication that he feels held back?”

I shook my head. “No… but… even as good as things are…” I took a deep breath. “There are things I can’t talk with him about yet, and we haven’t been physical except for kissing and cuddling.”

“Don’t worry about physical intimacy,” Joey stated. “As long as he’s not pushing you out of your comfort zone, then I think you’re progressing at a safe pace. Are the topics you don’t want to talk about with him the same things you don’t want to talk about with me?”

 I nodded.
