I didn’t want him to feel pressured into a date, on the off chance that he’d felt intimidated that morning. But now I was hoping that he hadn’t changed his mind.
The world slowed to a crawl as the lobby doors opened, and he appeared, stunning in a light pink sweater and jeans. He looked around a moment, then spotted me, smiled and strode over.
“For a minute I was worried you’d changed your mind,” he admitted as he got into the car and accepted a kiss.
“Me too,” I replied.
He smiled and leaned against me as the driver headed towards the restaurant.
I took a deep breath, savoring his scent. I’d dreamed about it so many times since that night, and now he was there by my side again. I was so wrapped up in it that I almost didn’t want to get out of the car when we reached the restaurant.
Dating him was going to be a test of restraint, but I’d manage.
I wasn’t going to lose my omega again.

~1 Week Later~
“Do you really have to leave tomorrow?” Theo whined from where he was curled at my side.
I sighed and kissed his hair. “I do. I can’t put off this meeting.”
“How long are you going to be gone?”
“Four days in Berlin,” I replied. “Then another two down in my condo so I can start getting things ready to move here.”
“I won’t see you for almost a week?”
“I’m sorry,” I murmured.
He let out a long breath. “I’m going to miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too. It’s too bad you can’t come with me.”
“Me too,” he whispered. “Damn passports.”
“You’ll get yours soon enough,” I assured him. “Then you can come with me on trips.” I paused. “At least as long as the doctors say it’s ok, and you can afford to take the time from work.”
He huffed. “Don’t remind me of other obligations right now.”
I chuckled. “I’m a businessman, so are you. We both know that there’s a lot to running a business.”
“Yeah, but mine is tiny in comparison.”
“But it’s yours, and that’s what matters.”
He sighed and cuddled close. “Stay the night?”
“Not tonight,” I replied. “I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed, and I’d miss my flight.”
“I don’t see that as a bad thing.”
“Normally I wouldn’t either, but this meeting is too important.” I tilted his chin up and kissed him.
I wanted to carry him to the bedroom and knot him, rekindle our connection. But I really couldn’t miss my flight. I’d already trimmed my trip as much as I could to spend time with him, and now everything was on a tight schedule.
I would bed him once I returned though. It had only been a week since I confronted him about our baby, and every day since then he’d proven that he regretted his actions.
He was my omega, of that I had no doubt.
We cuddled in comfortable silence for several more minutes before I shifted.
“I should go,” I mumbled.
“Five more minutes?”
I smiled and settled. “Ok. Five more minutes.”
It was only five minutes, and I was going to be away for a full week. I could give my mate this much.
