Chapter 12 - Jordan
I’d taken the opportunity to call for a ride while doing dishes, and I was glad for it.
Despite what I’d said, I was incredibly close to spending the day with Theo. Leaving his side had been an exercise in willpower, especially when everything in me wanted to drag him to the bedroom and reconnect in a much more pleasurable fashion.
But sex had been how we’d ended up where we were, and it wasn’t going to fix anything.
I walked out of the building to find my ride waiting for me.
“Where to?” the driver asked.
“Billionaire Row.”
He turned and raised an eyebrow, but shrugged and started driving when I didn’t back down. “You got it.”
I pulled out my phone as soon as we were on the road.
“Hey,” Wes said as he answered. “Cody said you were in town.”
“Did he say why?”
Wes sighed. “Yes. I’m sorry man, I would have told you if I’d known.”
“I know, so does Cody. That’s why he didn’t want you to know.”
“Still…”
“What’s done is done,” I interrupted. “Is it ok if I crash at your place for a few days?”
“Of course.”
“Cool. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“See you when you get here.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
I caught the driver glancing at me in the rear view mirror, but he quickly turned his attention back to the road.
I guess even in a town known for having a high number of billionaires, it wasn’t common for somebody going to that side of town to get into a random rideshare car.
A few minutes later the driver dropped me off in front of Wes’s house.
Wes was outside waiting for me, and walked in with me.
“Where did you stay last night?” he asked as we took a seat in one of the front rooms.
“I slept on Theo’s couch,” I admitted.
“He was cool with that?”
I shrugged. “He was asleep. I think the stress of it all was weighing him down. He broke down as soon as he saw me, just apologizing over and over until he passed out in my arms.”
Wes sighed. “So what now?”
I licked my lips. “I’m giving him another chance.”
