“Just… heartbroken,” I admitted.

He winced. “Sorry man. I didn’t even know you were seein’ somebody.”

I shook my head. “I wasn’t, not really.” I paused. “Do you remember that cute omega I danced with at Wes’s wedding—Cody’s best man?”

He chuckled. “How could I forget? There were lines to dance with both of you, but once you two got together it was as if you couldn’t part. You only had eyes for each other.”

I ran my hand through my hair. “Well… we… We sorta hooked up after the reception. I thought everything was good, but he ghosted and blocked me the next day.”

“He what?” Mack’s eyes widened. “No way. Why?”

“That’s the worst part. I have no idea why. We were both exhausted, and we fell asleep while I was still knotted inside him. By the time I woke up, he was gone. I tried calling, but he’d blocked me too. No talking, no note, nothing.”

“Shit, and I thought you looked good together too. He seemed so smitten.”

I sighed. “I know I was. Even now my alpha side insists that I find him and claim him.”

“Damn.”

“Yeah…”

“So what are you gonna do?”

I rubbed my neck. “What I’ve been doing, I guess. Keep away and try to forget about him.”

“Your plan sucks.”

“Well… it’s what I’ve got.”

“You could always talk to Wes. See if his mate has any clue why you got ghosted.”

I shook my head. “I want to, but… he must have his reasons, right?”

“Hell if I know what omegas are thinkin’. The guys are easier to figure out than the ladies, but they’re all wired differently. Things make sense to them that don’t make sense to us, and vice versa. For all we know, he could want you to chase him and is pissed that you’re not.”

I considered it for a moment, then shook my head. Theo was too straightforward for that. “No, I think that he’d have talked to me first.”

Mack slumped. “Yeah, probably.”

I took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. “Don’t think on it too much. It’s my problem, not yours.”

“I guess you’re right.” He paused. “But I hope you figure it out soon.”

“Me too…” I replied. “Me too.”
