He nodded, and we studied each other for a few seconds.

“So… umm…” he cleared his throat. “Are you sure about San Francisco? I wasn’t kidding when I said that Wes’s dad is covering travel. You could go for a week in Paris, or Sydney, or anywhere else.”

I ran my fingers through my hair. “Yeah. I can’t get away for more than two days, neither can Corey, and we’re the lucky ones. The longer the getaway, the fewer people will be able to make it. If I scheduled something for a full week, Cody would be partying alone.”

Jordan frowned. “Even with travel expenses covered?”

I sighed. “People still need their jobs when we get back. It’s not so easy to take that much time off on short notice, and that’s even for those who don’t have asshole bosses. I wasn’t kidding when I said that some people are having to choose between the party and the ceremony. We’re going to do our best to give shifts covered, but I doubt we’ll get everybody we want.”

 “Damn…”

I nodded and slumped in the chair. I wanted Cody’s bachelor party to be perfect, but I just couldn’t see a way to make it happen like that.

“Let’s move on,” I finally said, sitting up again. “Day of the wedding. Who’s where?”

Jordan leaned in, a serious expression on his face. “I thought it made the most sense for Cody to get ready here. It’ll give you all more room, plus you’ll be on hand to answer any last-minute questions from the planner.”

 “Where will you all be?”

He shrugged. “I’m thinking the condo.”

I grumbled. “I don’t know why Wes decided that he needed a damn condo. Cody’s apartment was fine.”

“Cody’s landlord absolutely refused to allow Tiny to stay in the apartment, and they needed to keep this house empty so that the renovations could happen quickly and they wouldn’t be underfoot while the decorators worked. Renting a condo made the most sense. There was no way that this place would have been ready for the wedding in time otherwise.”

I crossed my arms. “That’s another thing. Why did they pick a beach wedding here, if anywhere in the world is an option?”

Jordan gave me a half-smile. “I’m surprised you’re even asking. This house is important to them.”

I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. Of course I knew that. God, why was I like this?

I knew the answer to that too. It was because I would have much preferred that Jordan drag me off somewhere and fuck me hard, than go over the few details we needed for the wedding.

Maybe I’d call Cody and Corey later and invite them out for drinks. Cody would probably pass, but maybe Corey would go to Mitchell’s or the Tipsy Surfer with me. With any luck I’d find an alpha to go home with, and if that failed, I’d at least have somebody to vent to.

 “You ok?”

“Fine,” I huffed. “Is that all?”

 Jordan frowned. “I guess.”

 “I’m gonna go then.”

 “Umm… ok.”

I stood, walked to the door, grabbed my jacket and stomped out to my car.

The sooner Jordan went back home the better.

In the meantime, I really needed a knot that wasn’t attached to him.
