Apparently I was good enough to date and knot, but not good enough to be a life partner.

Well, fuck them. I was a damn prize, and if they couldn’t see that then it was their loss. I’d wait for a man who wanted me as much as I wanted him.

“Earth to Theo.”

I jumped, startled out of my thoughts, and remembered that I was supposed to be helping plan the bachelor parties.

“What?”

“Theater?” Jordan prompted. “Do we need to find out what shows are being performed?”

I sighed and slumped in my seat. “Yeah. Cody would love that.”

Jordan turned and made a note on his tablet. “Anything in particular? Musicals, ballet, opera?”

“Musicals or opera would be more his speed,” I replied.

“Got it.”

“Why are you helping with Cody’s party?” I asked, trying to shift the focus. “And what’s your plan for Wes?”

“Might as well. I can ask my house manager to get all the details together, since you’ve got a business to run.” He laughed. “As for Wes, no clue. But I’m thinking somewhere with no cell reception. If he gets a work call or message when he’s supposed to be having fun he immediately goes into boss mode. It’s only when it comes to Cody that he puts the business second.”

“Really?” I asked. I hadn’t thought much of it. I was so used to seeing the doting side of Wes that I just assumed that he was hands-off in terms of business.

Jordan nodded. “If I’m being honest, Cody is the best thing that could have happened to him. He gets out of the office on time now, instead of reviewing code for hours after everybody else has gone home. He’s excited about the baby, more than any of the upcoming apps.”

I grinned, my mischievous side coming out. “You should take him to a baby store for his party, and tell him you’ve combined it with a shower.”

Jordan gawked at me for a few seconds, then he started laughing. “Oh, that’s perfect. I’m gonna do it.”

“What?” I cried.

He leaned in, distracting me with his grin. Why was he so damn good-looking?

“I said that’s perfect,” he replied. “It’s unexpected, and I’ve gotta give him some shit for how baby crazy he is all of a sudden.”

“Umm…” I didn’t know what to think. I hadn’t expected Jordan to run with my joke. “Will they even know what gender the baby will be by then?”

He shook his head. “Nope. Wes has that appointment on the shared calendar at work so we all know not to contact him that day. They find out a few days before the wedding, but after the bachelor parties.”

“Damn, even Cody’s not that meticulous, and that man lives by his calendar.”

“I was pretty surprised too,” Jordan admitted.

I smiled, then caught myself and shook my head.

No flirting.

“Back to the party,” I said. “What else do you think for Wes?”

Jordan rubbed his chin. “Well… London for baby stuff shopping. Might as well go golfing and clubbing while we’re there.”

I gawked at him. “You’re going to London… for the bachelor party?”

He shrugged. “Might as well. It’ll make the shopping more of a surprise. I guess New York would work too, but his phone would work there. However, if we’re overseas I can convince him to use wifi only.”

I sighed. “That makes sense.”
