Lowell turned his attention back to my skates, and I covertly pinched my thigh.

It hurt, but maybe my dream was tricking me.

He stood and offered his hand. “It can be a bit tricky to find your balance, so hold onto me until you’re ready to walk.”

I nodded and allowed him to help me to my feet.

When had he gotten so strong? Why hadn’t I paid more attention to him in high school?

“You good?” he asked after a moment, leaning in so that I could hear him.

I nodded, concealing a shiver as his breath washed over my ear, and only managing to keep my cock still through force of will.

Why did I want him to ask me that same question, but in a very different context?

I clung to Lowell’s arm as he led me to the rink’s entrance, then took my first tentative steps onto the artificial ice.

“Do you want to skate near the barrier?” he asked, skating up beside me. “As added safety.”

I looked at him, and shook my head. I knew he’d protect me. “I’ll be ok, as long as I’m with you.”

He grinned and offered his arm, which I accepted. Then he showed me how to position my feet to move.

After a moment I took my first tentative step, and felt a thrill when I didn’t immediately fall on my ass.

“That’s it!” he praised.

I beamed at him as he allowed me to set the pace. We were being lapped by children pushing penguin things, but I didn’t care. I was there with him.

We’d made almost a full circuit of the rink when I got bold and tried to go a bit faster. Unfortunately I realized too late that I’d made a wrong move as my skates started to slip from beneath me.

“Sean!” Lowell cried as I started to fall.

I squeezed my eyes shut, but the pain never arrived. Instead I was enveloped in warmth.

I opened my eyes to see Lowell staring down at me, concern etched into his features.

“Are you ok?” he asked.

I nodded.

He breathed a sigh of relief. “Good.”

I expected him to pull me back up to my feet, even though I didn’t want him to. His arms were warm around me, and so strong. I wanted to stay that way forever.

I licked my lips, trying to find the words to thank him.

Our eyes met, and that was when I saw it. Behind the concern was something more, something deeper: desire.

“Kiss me,” I breathed.

His mouth opened in shock, his nostrils flared, and his eyes darkened.

Then his lips were on mine.
