“But…”

“It would have been worth it,” he said. “Even if you never accepted me. Because I’d be here if you were ever ready.”

 “You wouldn’t have moved on?”

“Of course not. How could I? Would you have been able to?”

I shook my head. “No. I’d resigned myself to being a bachelor.”

“I think this is the better option.”

 I smiled. “Me too.”

The house was immaculate as we walked back in, all traces of the shattered pot swept up, and the plant itself relocated to a new pot set on top of the wall. Then Tiny rounded the corner, entire body wriggling from his excitement at seeing Wes.

“Hey buddy,” Wes said, dropping to one knee.

Tiny raced over and started sniffling and licking Wes.

“I know, I know,” Wes said. “You were worried.”

I smiled as Wes reassured Tiny that he was ok. Then Wes stood and scratched behind Tiny’s ears. “I’m going to go claim your papa now.”

My breath caught in my throat. This was real. I was about to take my alpha for the first time, and I’d probably be pregnant soon.

“Are you ok?” Wes asked, rushing to me, running his hands along my arms.

 I nodded. “I’m just…”

He smiled, then leaned in to kiss me.

I melted as his lips brushed mine for the first time. We’d held off the night before, both of us knowing that we probably wouldn’t be able to hold back otherwise and not wanting our first time together to be in a hospital bed.

All my fears were banished as Wes held me, licking at the seam of my lips to request access.

I moaned as his tongue slipped into my mouth, tasting his breath and needing more. By the time we broke apart I was hard as a rock and practically dripping slick.

“I’d carry you,” Wes said. “But the doctors said to take it easy.”

“It’s ok,” I replied, giving him another kiss. “I know the way.”

He smiled and allowed me to lead.

I knew the house like the back of my hand, but had never expected to do more than inspect it before a new client came in. Now my alpha was about to claim me there.

“I’m going to wash my face,” Wes said as we entered the bedroom.

 “Huh?”

He laughed. “Tiny kinda slobbered all over me, and it’s not very sexy.”

 I chuckled. “Ok.”

Wes walked into the en suite, and I crossed to the floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out onto the beach. He’d already said that he intended to move to Harris Cove. Did that mean that I was about to have a similar view all the time?

Arms slipped around me from behind, and Wes nuzzled into my neck. “Do you like the view?”

 “Mm-hmm.”
