“All the more reason to go out there. The sooner we can fix these bugs, the happier he’ll be.”

 “If you say so.”

Jordan’s tone suggested that he didn’t quite agree, and part of me was unsure as well.

“Did you have any problems getting in?” Donna asked as I sat across from her.

I shook my head. “None, thanks for asking. The car from the airport was right on time, and the house was in perfect order. The dog walker… you said his name was Corey?”

 She nodded at the question.

“He came by early this morning to introduce himself and meet Tiny.”

“Everybody loves Corey. He’s a dream with the dogs.”

I smiled. “He seems like it, and Tiny loved him immediately.”

She laughed. “I think he keeps a treat or two in his pockets to make the introductions easier.”

I echoed the laugh. “Smart man.”

She looked over to a clock and nodded to herself. “Cody should be in shortly. Then we’ll be able to go over the schedule for the day and he can talk with you about any trends he’s seeing in bugs, or issues with the app.”

I nodded. “Ok. He’s expecting me, right?”

She sighed. “Yes, but he complained about it. I haven’t been able to find a good part-timer so far this year, and he’s been feeling the pinch. He’s made it pretty clear that this is the wrong time to be learning and integrating a new app.”

“I’ll try to smooth things over by helping when I can.”

 “I’m sure he’d appreciate it.”

“Donna…” called a voice from outside her office. I recognized it from the video chat as Cody’s. “I’ve got coffee.”

Something smelled incredible, and I decided that I’d have to find out what kind of coffee Cody brought. Even my cock had taken notice, which seemed odd.

I turned towards the open door, ready to greet him.

Cody rounded the corner, a coffee carrier with three large cups on it in his hands.

He nodded to Donna, then turned to me. Our eyes met, and suddenly everything made sense: the reason why I’d decided to look into the bugs myself, why I felt like I needed to solve every one of his problems, why I’d gone to Harris Cove rather than leave everything to traditional methods.

Cody, the nerdy and slightly grumpy omega, was mine… my fated mate.

I half stood, ready to go to him and pull him into my arms.

His jaw went slack as understanding came over him too.

“Oh hell no!” he shouted before turning and walking back out of the office.
