Even the silence as he drove was companionable, as if he was as content in that moment as me.

He pulled into the dirt parking lot at the pumpkin patch, and I was a bit shocked at how full it was.

“I thought you said that this was a soft open.”

“I think it’s mostly the families and friends of the kids. They get a few free tickets for tonight only so that they can invite people. It gives them a crowd to work out any remaining kinks, while not having to deal with the general public.”

“Oh.”

He parked and jumped out of the truck. Then he opened my side and held out a hand. “Shall we?”

I allowed him to help me out of the truck, then shivered as he slung an arm around my waist.

“Are you cold?” he murmured.

I shook my head. “Just a bit of a temperature shock from inside the truck,” I lied.

He chuckled, and I realized he’d seen right through me.

Oh well. He could probably smell my interest anyway. While I’d been trying to ignore it, I’d been pretty well slicked up since the kiss in my apartment’s parking lot.

“Hey Dom,” said an older alpha when we reached the ticket table. “Was wondering when you’d finally show.”

I took a closer look and recognized the man. He’d also been there when Madison got lost.

“Thank you so much,” I cut in. “For helping find Madison.”

He laughed, a hearty rumble from his chest. “It was nothing. Glad to help.”

“I’m sorry,” I replied. “I meant to bring cookies or something for the staff, then I forgot, and…”

His laugh deepened. “You’re ok. Kids get lost in there every year. We’re just glad to see ya together again.”

“Thanks,” I mumbled.

He smiled.

Dom’s arm tightened around my waist. “We good to head in, or is there a wait?”

The older alpha grinned. “You’re good. Most of the people are more than halfway through.”

“Shall we then?” Dom asked, fingers dancing along my side.

I nodded, glad to escape the embarrassment of my running mouth. “Yeah.”

He led me to the maze entrance, which had been decorated with an ornate gate that appeared to have been ripped from its hinges.

“The theme is apparently a haunted graveyard,” Dom whispered in my ear, making me shiver again.

“So zombies?” I asked, trying and failing not to think about him whispering in my ear for other reasons.

“And skeletons, and vampires, and werewolves. I think some ghosts too.”

“You’ll protect me, right?” I teased.

His breath hitched and his fingers pressed into my side. “Always.”

My jeans were suddenly far too tight in the front as my cock responded to his tone, and I was glad that it was dark. I didn’t want to traumatize some random teen since I’d now be walking through the maze with a definite hard on.
