My heart melted a bit at the admission and I tilted my head to kiss his jaw. Was it too soon to tell Alan that I loved him? Probably, but as fast as we were moving I knew it wouldn’t be long.

Alan plucked my notebook from my hand and set it on the end table. “Was there anything else we needed to discuss?”

I shook my head, my cock hardening at his tone.

“Then let’s move onto more… interesting things. Shall we?”

I grinned. “Sounds like a plan.”

 ~1 Week Later~

I frowned and rubbed my stomach. It was roiling and every few minutes I felt like I needed to vomit. But, so far at least, I’d been able to hold everything down.

“You ok?” Victor asked, peering out from the wine cooler. “You’re looking a bit green around the gills.”

I nodded, then thought about it. “You’re feeling ok, right?”

He blinked a couple times. “Yeah. Why?”

I shook my head. “I just have an upset stomach is all. For a moment I was concerned that it was something I made.”

He stepped back and frowned. “You’re not stressing about the party too much, are you?”

“I don’t think so. It’s just another dinner party for me.”

“But it’s not. Sure, you’re still cooking, but Alan will also be introducing you as the man he’s dating. That’s different.”

I smiled. “I’m actually looking forward to that. It’s scary, but it shows how serious we are.”

His frown deepened. “Why don’t you head home for the day.”

 “But, why?”

He sighed. “You’ve had a queasy look about you all morning. While I trust you to make decisions about your capability to work, the party is more important. I know Alan would prefer if you were at home resting if you feel ill. That way you can recover before the party.”

 “I’m sure it’s nothing.”

He walked over and set a bottle of wine on the island. “Things will probably change soon given how fast the relationship between you and Alan is progressing, but for now I’m still your supervisor and I’m telling you to go home and rest. You might be right, it might be nothing. But you have an outstanding obligation the day after tomorrow.”

He paused and ran a hand through his hair. “The menu for the party is set David, and Alan is in New York until tomorrow. The only one you’re cooking for is me.”

 “There’s still prep…” I tried to argue.

“We’ll have the help come in a few hours early. Go home. Rest. Get whatever’s bothering you out of your system. I know Alan would agree with me if he were here. Hell, he’d probably drag you to the bedroom to make you rest. But since I can’t guarantee that you won’t try to keep working if you stay, I’m telling you to go home. Take tomorrow too.”

I sighed. I was a bit tired. Maybe it was more important to rest so that I could be at my best for the party.

Victor visibly relaxed. “Do you want me to drive you?”

I shook my head. “I’ll be ok. I’ll stop by the store for a few things then head home to rest.”

 “Things for yourself, right?”

I nodded. “I’m just going to get some ginger and some eggs.”

One of his eyebrows went up.
