“You’re going to make it right!” I barked. “I don’t want more guns. I want my money. And I want it from you. That’s it that’s all.Youmade a promise that every single gun you sold was clean and new. My mama always told me making promises that you can’t keep will have yo’ ass in some deep shit. One thing about my mama, she’s hardly ever wrong. I want my money. After forty-eight hours, the price goes up to $65,000.”

“Kastian, I don’t ha−“

“Telling me what you don’t have isn’t going to solve anything! I’m out of a lot of money from dealing with you. You think I’m going to take that L?” A sudden thought slammed into my brain. “I’ll give you an extra week to come up with the money.”

David breathed a sigh of relief.

“If you give me twelve hours with your wife.”

The rage was back full throttle. I could have sworn I heard the nigga growl. I held my palms up in surrender.

“I don’t want to do anything inappropriate with her. I only have consensual sex, and she’s your wife. She loves you, right? Surely, she wouldn’t want to have sex with me, so that’s something you don’t have to worry about,” I assured. I’d never let him pay off a debt with his wife’s pussy. Even if he was with it.

“Why do you want to spend twelve hours with my wife?”

I had to give him credit. He said that shit with his chest. Tried to sound real confident. The fact that he was even asking me questions told me everything that I needed to know about him. David was a joke. The answer should have been no out the gate.

“That really doesn’t matter. We won’t be having sex, and I wouldn’t hurt her. So, questions are irrelevant. Either you give me $60,000 in two days, give me $65,000 in seven days, or $60,000 in two weeks. You have sixty seconds to choose. And if you choose two weeks, I’m coming to your house tomorrow evening to scoop your wife at seven pm.”

David’s eyes almost jumped out of his skull. I could practically hear the wheels turning in his head.

“And if you choose two days or seven, when the time comes, you better have every cent. Because if you don’t, handing over your wife won’t be an option. I’m snatching her ass up. And then, I’m killing you.”

“Kastian, please man.”

I reached behind me and pulled my gun. One thing I hated was repeating myself, and I’d already done it one too manytimes. I didn’t want to take such an expensive loss, but I’d blow David’s brains out before I let him get away with selling me a dirty gun. Hell possibly dirty guns. I tossed every gun in the shipment. The moment I cocked my gun, David had a change of heart.

“Okay! Two weeks. I’ll get the money for you in two weeks. My wife is innocent man. Please don’t do anything to her.”

A sinister grin eased across my face. “Shorty will definitely be in good hands with me. Sit tight,” I nodded toward the chair he’d been sitting in when I first walked in the warehouse. “Brock. Call Justin. I want him to keep eyes on this nigga until I come to scoop his wife.” I placed my gaze back on David. “You can leave when Justin gets here. Nice doing business with you.”

CHAPTER 5

PERSIA

With a sighI rolled my eyes upward. “Tina, you’ve had a week to think about this. You know I hate doing things last minute. I’m ready to buy the tickets. You have one minute to tell me if you want to go to Aruba or St. Thomas for your birthday.”

“Ughhhhh why make me choose? Why not just take me both places?”

“Bitch, I kn−“

“Okayyyyy,” she drawled with a giggle. “I choose St. Thomas.”

“Now, was that so hard? I’m about to book our flights right now. Looking for hotel rooms and resorts always stresses me out, and I don’t have the brain power for that today. I showed six houses today, did one walkthrough, an inspection, and a closing. My behind is tired.”

“That’s how you can afford to take me to St. Thomas for my birthday. You be working your ass off. I’ll be glad when you decide you want to put a receptionist on payroll because I hate my job.”

Tina worked full-time as a quality control agent for a call center, and she hated it. I made great money, but it varied from month to month. Truthfully, I could afford to hire a receptionist, but I was saving money by not having one. Also, my sister made $21 an hour at her job. I wouldn’t let her quit her job to work for me unless I was going to pay her more than she made at her job.

“Give me two more months, and you’re in there. I had two inquiries today from people that just passed the realtor’s exam. They want to come in and talk with me about working for my firm. Hiring agents is great, but I need to see if they’re going to actually sell some houses first.”

“I get it,” Tina replied as I sat down with my laptop.

I heard David unlocking the door. Glancing at my watch, I saw that it was barely five pm. He rarely came home that early and stayed. David usually got in around ten or later. Which was another reason I was hesitant to have his child. I didn’t want to do everything alone while he still ran the streets like a dope boy with no family or responsibilities. I’d never tried to control what David did, but if I had his child, I wanted him to be hands on. All that hanging out late and clubbing every weekend wasn’t something I wanted the father of my child to be doing.

I wanted a man that helped to equally take care of his child and spent quality time with him or her. We’d been going to the club for years, and I was so past that. Every now and then was cool, but David was there every weekend like he owned stock in the place.

“Hey, babe,” I sang in a good mood. The smile melted off my face when I saw his swollen lip and the dried blood on his chin. My heart slammed into my ribcage. “Sissy, let me call you right back.”
