“Did he have that bad of a time?” I ask.
“The opposite. Hey. Be honest with me, angel. Are you okay? I feel like we went from zero to one hundred there and?—”
“It wasn’t too much. I promise I’m doing just fine. I enjoyed every second of that.” I tug him onto the sheets, laying on my side. “You’re right about it not becoming a regular thing, though. I had a great time, but I like things with you the most.”
“I’m glad I won’t have to fight my best friend over your virtue.”
“What is this? Victoria England?” I sigh and close my eyes. “Thank you for indulging me, Hunter.”
“I’ll give you anything you want, baby. Which includes a shower before you get ready for work.”
“I want to sleep all day.” I put a pillow over my face to block out the light. “I’m too tired.”
“You’re playing a pivotal role in the future of America. It’s almost the weekend. You can sleep then.”
“Fine,” I say around a yawn. “Will you rinse off with me?”
“Cleaning you up is one of my favorite things.” Hunter scoops me into his arms, and I giggle when he nuzzles his cheek against mine. “Bath or shower?”
“Shower. If I get in the bath, I’ll never get out.” I hide my smile in his chest. “You’d never be able to get rid of me.”
“That would be okay. Getting rid of you is the last thing I want to do.”
Hunter rinses me off in the shower and wraps me in a fluffy towel. When I get dressed for work, he stands on the front porch, waving to me as I pull out of the driveway, and I already can’t wait to see him again.

How’s school, angel?
Me
Busy, but good.
Hunter
Glad to hear it. Come over tonight?
Better yet, be in my bed when I get home from work. I haven’t seen you in 24 hours, and I’m going out of my goddamn mind.
Me
So needy. I guess I can make that happen.
Hunter
I miss you and your pussy more than I’ve ever missed anything in my life.
Me
You’re a modern day Shakespeare.
