"What are you doing?" She asks me.
"I'm going to kill you!" Jebba shouts.
I smile and duck under his arm and kick him in the chest. He flies back and lands hard on the ground. I walk over to him and kneel.
"I am Dhakar," I say, "and I am the winner." I prepare to give him the final strike.
He grabs my leg and pulls me down. I fall on top of him and we both struggle. We roll onto the ground where I straddle him and grab his throat. I squeeze tightly and crush his throat. He tries to push me off but there is no strength left in him. He dies when I release my grip on his neck.
I raise my hands in the air. The crowd cheers my name. "Anyone else? Who dares to challenge me in my right to claim the human female?" I roar.
A warrior steps forward. He is tall and muscular with dark blue skin and white eyes. His name is Darnal. I stare at him for a moment then I charge at him. He raises his fist to defend himself. I punch him and send him flying back into the crowd.
"Next!" I shout.
Someone else steps forward. I stand and watch him approach me. When he is within range, I jump up and deliver a powerful punch to his jaw. He falls to the ground and lies motionless.
"That's the last one," I say loudly. "No one else challenges me, or they will lose. I am Dhakar and I am the winner of the Mating Game."
I stand and look at Emma who is still sitting on the bench. Her eyes are filled with fear. She does not know what to do.
"Come here," I tell her and place my hands on her shoulders. I take her in my arms and lead her to the arena. "She is mine!" I shout to the crowd.
"I am Dhakar!" I scream. "I won the Mating Game! I have the right to claim the female as my mate!"
The crowd roars at my words and I turn to Emma who is standing behind me.
"You killed those males?" She asks me.
"Yes," I reply.
"Why did you do it?" She asks.
"Because they tried to claim my mate," I answer and hold her tight against me.
"Oh!" She says in surprise. "Did you enjoy killing them?"
"No, but I would rather kill any male who wants to touch or harm you," I say and kiss her. She pulls away from my embrace.
"No, this can't be. Thank you for everything I guess but I don't belong here. You barely know me... why do you want me as your mate?" She says to me.
I sigh. "It doesn't matter what I know or don't know about you. It is my right as the winner of the Mating Game to claim you as my mate."
She stands up and walks to the edge of the arena. "I can't accept that," she says to me.
I follow her and place my hands on her shoulders. "Please, my love. I need you as my mate. Will you be my mate?" I ask her.
"No!" She shouts and pushes me away.
"What?" I ask shocked.
"This isn't real. You need to stop playing around. I don't want to be your mate. Please leave me alone," she says to me angrily.
"I am Dhakar and I will never leave you unless you choose to leave me and go back to Valkrya," I say to her. "I will always be there to protect you."
She looks at me for a long time before she finally speaks. "I am afraid of what might happen to me if I stay here," she tells me.
"You will be safe with me," I assure her.
