No, I am not.

“If you insist.” I shrug with fake detachment.

“I insist.” His smile makes my heart skip like a preschooler. “I’ll let Lyle know to transfer it to your name.”

“Thanks.” More fake aloofness while my heart plays hopscotch inside my chest.

I’m not sure what game Nate is playing, but I’m definitely losing right now.

I sling my purse over my shoulder and step forward, waiting for him to move out of my way so I can pass.

His dark eyes glance down on me, making me fidget under his stare. “Any big plans for Friday night?”

“None of your business.”

“Knitting? Crocheting? You look like a person who knits.”

I roll my eyes, pushing past him. “I’ll see you in Thailand.”

“Can’t wait.”

Dread should be coursing through my veins, but for some reason, a small spark of excitement flickers inside me.

It’s for Thailand.

I’d never be excited about spending more time with Nate.

@girl_sees_the_world:

We’ve been messaging back and forth for ten months, and we haven’t even exchanged names yet. And now you want to know something deep? I don’t know if I’m ready to cross that line. It feels like things are moving too fast. (winky-face emoji)

@worth_traveling_to:

There’s something liberating about messaging a stranger, don’t you think? You can be honest and real without all the pretenses.

@girl_sees_the_world:

Honest and real? That’s what you’re after?

@worth_traveling_to:

@girl_sees_the_world:

Minus any personal information.

@worth_traveling_to:

Yes, minus that.
