“And a baby?” I ask.
The weight of the question is heavy between us, and we look into each other’s eyes. Her eyes go round. “Why do I feel like you’d be okay with that?”
I start to nod when there is a loud knock at the door. I pull the blanket up to cover Alice and then climb from the bed, slipping my jeans on before going to the door. I open it a crack and bark, “What?”
Legend tries to look around me. “The birthday girl in here?”
“Yes,” I answer. I’m not sure if Alice wants everyone to know she’s with me, but it’s better that they all know she’s mine.
“Okay, well tell her she has some visitors downstairs.”
I tense up. “Who?”
He rolls his eyes. “I’m not going to ruin the surprise.”
I stand up taller, about to threaten him, when a half-dressed Alice peeks around me. “Who is it?” she asks Legend.
He holds his hands up. “I promised I wouldn’t ruin the surprise. You’ll have to come down to find out.”
“We’ll be right down.”
I slam the door in Legend’s face, and Alice finishes putting her clothes on as I get dressed. I hate this feeling. I don’t want to share her with anyone, least of all whoever is probably downstairs waiting on her.
She’s practically bouncing foot to foot waiting for me, but at least she’s waiting.
I finish lacing up my boots and stand up. I pull her to me and give her a searing kiss. When I pull back, I rest my forehead to hers.
She’s smiling but looks at me in confusion. “You okay?”
I nod. “Yeah, you got my cum dripping out of you. I’m okay.”
She scrunches her nose. “I should probably clean up.”
A possessive feeling takes over, and I hold on to her. “Nope. I don’t know what or who is downstairs, and the only thing making me a little calmer about that fact is knowing you’re dripping with my cum.”
She playfully smacks my chest, and I grab her hand. “Come on. The quicker we get down there, the sooner I can get you back up to my room.”
She’s not complaining. She smiles as we descend the stairs, and I try my best to keep my shit together. Even though I’ve got a bad feeling in my gut.
CHAPTER 13
ALICE
I’m not sure what to expect, but I know the Exiled Guardians, and whoever is waiting downstairs for me are good people. They wouldn’t let them in here if they weren’t. My mind is working overtime as I try to figure out who it is. I’m all excited about the possibilities, but Greyson is going down the steps like he’s walking to a firing squad or something.
“You okay?”
He forces a smile. “I’m good.”
I look at him skeptically. He’s anything but good. I’ve worked with Greyson for months now, and I know his moods. He’s definitely not good right now. He’s tense and on edge.
We get to the bottom of the stairs, and it’s only a few steps to the door that opens up to the main room. “You sure?”
He nods. “Yep.”
He’s looking at the door in front of us like he wants to fight it or something. He takes a deep breath, clenches my hand a littletighter, and we go to the door. As soon as we walk through it, I’m face to face with the crew from my father’s old club.
I say each of their names, unable to believe that they’re here in Whiskey Run. “Cobra, Scar, Tiny, and Butch! What are you doing here?”
