He didn’t need to push the button to bring the paper outline in for inspection. He flipped off his ear protection and grinned at her.

“I missed,” she said, sounding miffed. “I’m definitely not trusting this gun with my life.”

“It’s your first time. You need practice.”

By the fifth round, she was hitting the target center mass.

“You’re a quick study,” he told her, enjoying the pride in her beaming smile.

“You’re a good teacher.”

If he had his way, he was going to be much, much more than her gun range instructor.
