“Brooks puts Spencer on the run!” Jude calls as Brooks tries to catch up to his opponent. Spencer is ready and waiting, gripping the top rope as he stomps down on Taylor’s head, shoulders, and back. “Oh, the champ suckered him in, attacking Brooks as he tries to get back in the ring.”
Satisfied, Spencer climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Brooks rolls into the middle of the ring, attempting to stand, but when he makes it to his feet, Spencer launches off the top turnbuckle with a flying clothesline, leveling him.
Viviana slaps the turnbuckle beside her, rallying her husband and the crowd, shouting words of encouragement. Spencer lands blow after blow before whipping Brooks into the ropes. He leapfrogs and delivers a spinning heel kick to the jaw. Spencer pulls Brooks to his feet for a belly-to-back suplex, driving his opponent headfirst into the mat, rolling through, and doing it again.
“Spencer with the cover!” Scott’s excitement is palpable. “And Brooks kicks out in two. That was a close call, Jude.”
“Brooks needs to get back to his corner and make the tag so he can recoup,” Jude says.
Spencer pounds the mat in annoyance before he rises to his feet, stalking Brooks. When he finally stands, Viviana lifts her foot to kick Brooks in the head. He staggers into the center of the ring, where Spencer goes for a superkick, but Brooks catches it.
The announcers chuckle. “Spencer’s in trouble now!”
The champion shakes his head vigorously, hopping on one foot, trying to regain his balance. Brooks chuckles, shaking his head, and twists the leg hard, sending Spencer belly-first down to the mat.
“Taylor is going for the Legacy Lock,” Jude Paul says as Brooks grasps Spencer’s ankle. He wraps his arms firmly around the joint, interweaving his hands to create a headlock that will be almost impossible to get out of. He twists the foot, applying an intense torque on the joint. Spencer cries out in pain, reaching for the ropes, but he’s nowhere close.
“The Legacy Lock is one of those submissions you don’t want to be caught in. The pressure on the ankle is intense, and it hurts long after you’re out.”
“Tap!” Brooks yells, but Spencer shakes his head, doing his best to inch toward the bottom rope. His fingers almost graze the rope, and Brooks realizes he’s too close. He releases the hold, only to pull his opponent back to the center of the ring and reapply the Legacy Lock.
Viviana vaults over the top rope, stunning Brooks with a dropkick, forcing him to break the hold. Finally free, Spencer limps to the corner, where he makes the official tag with Viviana. Brooks does the same.
“Oh boy,” Scott chuckles. “Here we go. This is what Savvy Skye has been waiting for.”
A grin appears on Savvy’s red lips as she slowly steps through the ropes. She meets her old rival in the middle of the squared circle, and the crowd buzzes with anticipation. They stop mere inches apart, toe-to-toe, neither willing to back down.
“Why don’t you just go back to whatever hole you crawled out of, Skye? You’re just a washed-up has-been, looking to see her name in lights one more time.”
Skye’s tongue swipes across her teeth with a chuckle, looking out at the crowd, before she kicks Viviana in the knee.
“Skye attacks Viviana’s knee!”
“That’s the same knee Viviana injured in their street fight a few years ago,” Jude explains as Savvy continues to attack the bad knee.
Viviana cries out in pain, trying to claw her way out of the ring. Skye doesn’t let her, dragging her to the adjacent corner and climbing up the turnbuckle. She perches on the top rope with perfect balance, looking out at the crowd as they cheer her on. She winks at Brooks before launching into a moonsault.
“The Last Kiss by Skye! Will it be enough?”
The referee falls to the mat when Savvy hooks the leg to cover her opponent. 1…2…Viviana lurches forward, kicking out.
“No! Kick out at two and a half.”
Skye sits up, frustrated, and climbs to her feet to meet her partner for a hushed conversation. He pulls back in shock, but she nods, encouraging him. His shoulders fall with a sigh, dropping from the apron to the ground. Brooks lifts the skirt to dig around under the ring.
“Hey! What are you doing?” Spencer yells, but goes unanswered. The crowd roars when Brooks yanks a ladder out and slides it into the ring. “What in the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“This is all legal in a No Disqualifications match,” Jude explains as the referee takes a step back from the chaos happening in the ring.
Savvy forces her opponent up to her feet and stoops down to hoist Viviana onto her shoulders in a Fireman’s Carry. With the ladder laid out on the canvas, Skye turns in a circle to look Spencer in the eye as she launches his wife onto the ladder. Viviana’s legs take most of the impact, and she screams out, clutching her leg as she rolls away in agony.
“Fireman’s Carry onto the ladder, but instead of going for the back, she went for the injured knee,” Jude explains. “Skye is showcasing her veteran skills tonight. She didn’t come back just to win, but to dismantle her opponents piece by piece. I don’t think Viviana will walk out of this match the same, Scott.”
“She’s reminding everyone why she still holds the record for longest reigning Women’s Champ,” Scott adds.
“You bitch!” Spencer yells, leaning over the ropes to sneer at Savvy.
“You haven’t seen anything yet,” Skye retorts, shoving him off the ropes and onto the ground. She grabs the ladder, lifts it upright, and snaps it open in the center of the ring. She doesn’t climb it, though. Not yet. Instead, she drags Viviana over and threads her injured leg through one of the bottom rungs, trapping it. Climbing the nearby turnbuckle, it looks like she might be preparing for a dropkick, but Spencer jumps up on the apron and swipes her feet from under her.
