“Well, that’s going to make both of our jobs more difficult.”
Especially since the production company decided to resume filming immediately once Isaac and I were married.
His grin is wide. “I don’t know. I think we can manage. You make an excellent wrangler and I’m a hell of a stand-in for the love scenes.”
He’s playing, but he’s not wrong. I’ve seen some of theearly footage and the blocking scenes. Ivy called it magic, and she was right.
“You’re not a stand-in, Isaac Logan. You’re the lead in my love story. You always have been. From day one.”
His eyes gleam the way they did the night we met. “You do know I’m literally never letting you go now, right? Like ever?”
“You could always tie me to you. I think I have your favorite reins around here somewhere . . .”
Later that night, during some extremely creative use of his favorite reins, Isaac convinces me to wait at least a few days to get back to work. He informs me they’ve been using Willow as my stand-in since we both have long dark hair and similar builds.
I imagine that’s making things interesting for Eli, who is pretty obvious about the schoolboy crush he has on her.
For once, I decide to give myself a break.
I agree to wait a week before going back to work. A few days to recover and smother myself in my strong, sweet cowboy so we can fully enjoy one another.
Without hiding, without lying. Without faking anything.
We’ve earned it.
CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN
isaac
Five months later
Watching Elena and Eli James film the wedding scene for the finale episode is harder than I expect it to be.
My girl stands there, breathtaking as always, a little over eight months pregnant. My whole world. I’m so damn proud of her, proud to be hers.
She’s standing across from Eli in a white lace sundress, cheeks flushed, eyes soft. There are flowers everywhere, way more than were actually at Wyatt and Ivy’s wedding.
I offered to quadruple reinforce Jasper’s pen after the showing he made at the real life event that inspired this one. But the director said they’d risk it in hopes of usable footage in the event he comes out to taste this cake, too.
Ironically enough, Jasper never shows, out doing his rounds no doubt. But no one thought to contain Sophia.
She’s interrupted filming twice already, causing them to reset. Even Rowdy and Blue have tried to herd Elena back to me.
I sneak them extra treats for this.
The crew is on hour two of shooting a twenty-minute ceremony scene when I notice Elena looks pale.
The actor playing the officiant is an older gray-haired gentleman, who I overhear ask if she needs a break.
That’s my cue.
Jogging over with a Gatorade and a mini chocolate stash in case her sugar is low, I arrive just in time to see her lean over and place her hands on her knees.
“All right,” I break in, turning toward the director. “She’s taking five. Now.”
Everyone thinks I’m overprotective. They give me plenty of hell about it. I give zero fucks what they think.
I reach for my girl and her hand squeezes mine tightly.
