“Thanks, Pops.” She gives me another side hug, careful not to irritate my injured shoulder.
“You’re welcome. So, y’all gonna tell your big secret, or you gonna make me wait like everyone else?” I ask.
“You’re gonna have to wait.” She shrugs.
“I can’t believe you’re makin’mewait,” I tell her. “I should be the first to know. After Raze, of course.”
She rolls her eyes at me. “Don’t be so dramatic. We’ll be announcin’ it soon.”
“Is Rivet comin’ today?” I ask. “I miss my other daughter.”
“No, she’s outta town right now,” Minx explains, glancin’ to the left. “Her and I are gettin’ together as soon as she comes home.”
She’s lyin’ about her bein’ outta town. The question is, why? What could be stopping her from comin’ today? Maybe they had a fallin’ out and Minx isn’t ready to admit it.
“If you say so, baby girl,” I reply, lettin’ it go.
“Alright, y’all!” Marley shouts, gettin’ everyone’s attention. “Food is done and set up out back. So, with our lovely parents to be leading the way, let’s head out there.”
Athena quickly finds me, gives me a kiss, and we walk outside together.
“It looks like a stork threw up out here,” I whisper to Athena, makin’ her giggle.
There are pink and blue decorations everywhere. Two long tables are set up on either side of the picnic tables. One has a cake in the middle with the rest of the food surrounding it. The other has a bunch of gifts covering it. Next to the gift table is a sign or something covered with a sheet. That must be the surprise. The picnic tables are either covered with a pink or blue tablecloth.
“Everyone, go ahead and get some food. Once y’all are seated, we’ll announce our big surprise,” Raze announces.
“Keep us in suspense, why don’t ya?” Shade shouts at him.
“You’ll live.” Raze laughs.
Fifteen minutes later, everyone has gotten their food and is now sittin’ down. Sienna pulls out her phone and holds it up as Raze and Minx start talkin’.
“So, we originally said we had one surprise,” Minx starts. “But we actually have two.”
“I’m finally makin’ an honest woman outta my Ol’ Lady,” Raze teases. “We’re engaged!”
Everyone cheers while a couple of people shout it’s about time.
“Thank you. And for our other surprise . . .” Minx pulls the sheet off the poster. It says:
Double the trouble and
Twice the fun . . .
We’re having TWO, not one!
“Twins!” Minx and Raze shout together.
“Welcome to the club,” Tink laughs.
After everyone has finished eating, Sienna and Marley walk around passin’ out confetti cannons.
“Everyone will release their cannons at the same time,” Sienna announces.
“If it’s all blue confetti, that means both babies are boys. All pink, both girls. A mix means one of each,” Marley explains.
Minx and Raze are both smilin’ from ear to ear.
