I chuckle to myself. “That woman will be the death of me.”
I walk inside after her and she’s already back in the kitchen with the other ladies. I make my way to the room we have Church, leaving my cell phone in the basket outside the door. This room is the safest place in the clubhouse to make a secured phone call. Closing the door behind myself, I walk toward my chair at the head of the table. I grab the phone off Tech’s little desk, setting it on the table before I take my seat.
The first number I dial is Saint’s.
“What’s up, Prez?” he asks when he answers.
“We had an incident,” I tell him. “Cartel paid a visit. They dropped an M-80 at the front gate, knockin’ out our prospect, Smalls and left an envelope of pictures. They’re watchin’ everyone, includin’ y’all.”
“Shit,” he mutters.
“I don’t know how you talk to your informant, but you better make sure you watch your six at all times,” I warn him.
“That’s taken care of. He switches burners after every conversation we have,” Saint explains.
“Smart man,” I say. “You may need to recruit him once we take care of our pest problem.”
“That’s the plan,” he tells me.
“Have you spoken to Declan?” I ask.
“Yeah, he said they’d be ready when he gets the call,” he says.
“You should think about makin’ that call sooner rather than later. Never hurts havin’ more security,” I tell him.
“You got it. The guys from the Mad Tatter have been stayin’ at the clubhouse too,” he replies.
“That’s good. Anything else?” I ask.
“Nah, nothin’ has happened out here. Not yet anyway,” he tells me.
“Let’s hope it stays that way. Keep me updated if anythin’ changes,” I say.
“Always.” We hang up and I lean back in my chair. One call down, one to go.
I dial Andrei’s direct number. He gave it to me the last time he was here so we wouldn’t have to communicate through Niko anymore. It keeps ringing and ringing. I’m about to hang up when he finally answers.
“This is Andrei,” he says.
“Andrei, it’s Bull. We had an incident,” I tell him.
“Are my daughter and grandson alright?” he asks. I don’t blame him for that bein’ his first thought. Now that I know Minx is pregnant with my first grandchild, I’ll be even more protective of her than ever before.
“Yeah, they’re fine. It seems as though our friends with the cartel paid a visit,” I start. “They threw a small explosive by our watch tower, knocking out our prospect on watch. Then they left an envelope of pictures. They’re watching everyone in the compound, including Cali and Caden.”
He cusses under his breath in Russian before taking a deep breath. “I will send as many men as I can to help patrol the perimeter. As well as one of my tech guys to install more surveillance inside and outside the clubhouse.”
“Sounds good,” I reply.
“Oh, and I want someone with my daughter and grandson at all times,” he demands.
“Buster is with her more often than not. When he’s not with her, someone else is with her,” I promise. “We will keep them safe.”
“I will be in touch,” he says and hangs up.
Tech has installed some high-tech surveillance for the clubhouse already, but having more when dealing with a threat like a cartel is always welcomed. Andrei’s men would be able to patrol the perimeter of the clubhouse in a stealthier way than the brothers. The cartel knows all our faces, so it’d be near impossible for us to do it.
I need to have Tech go through our surveillance videos and see if he can find anything suspicious from today or the past week. There’s no way those thugs haven’t been caught by one of our cameras.
