Tink

When the girlsand I walk out of the clubhouse, Marley sets Belle on the ground. She runs around her feet, never straying more than a yard away from me.

“She’s such a good puppy,” Marley says.

“Best birthday present I’ve ever gotten.” I smile so wide my cheeks hurt.

“The guys did good,” Minx adds.

“Y’all did good, too. Surprising me with all the banners. It was sweet,” I tell them.

“With how shitty things have been lately, we wanted to do something to cheer you up,” Marley admits.

“I appreciate it. Y’all are the best friends a girl could ask for.”

When we get to Minx’s house, Belle runs in front of me, jumping on my legs. I pick her up and carry her inside. There are even more birthday decorations covering the foyer. The living room has blankets and pillows covering the floor. All the girls are here except for Lo and Wren. Even Raven and Aria are here.

“Happy birthday,” everyone shouts at once.

“Thank you! Everything looks great.” Belle barks in my hands as if she’s saying thank you, too.

“Has anyone heard from Wren, yet? She should be here by now,” Minx says.

There’s a round of no’s. Minx walks out of the room to call her. I walk to the playpen by the window where Caden is playing with some of his toys.

“Aw, Cali, he’s so handsome,” I tell her.

“Thank you. It’s been an adventure with him and I love every second of it.”

Caden reaches his arms up, cooing and smiling.

“I think he wants the puppy.” Cali laughs. She bends over, picking him up. She brings him next to me and Belle. Caden starts giggling, reaching for her, and Belle is wagging her tail and trying to lick him.

“Looks like you need to talk Buster into getting Caden a puppy,” I tell her. We set them both on the floor in the middle of all the blankets and pillows, both with a couple of toys. Belle runs around Caden is laughing a full belly laugh at her.

“I talked to Sketch.” Minx walks back into the living room. Marley is sitting with Caden and Belle, taking pictures on her phone. “Wren went into labor and they’re on their way to the hospital. He told us to sit tight and he’ll call when it’s a good time for us to go visit.”

“Eek!” Cali squeals. “Another Savage baby! I can’t wait to meet her!”

“Did they ever tell anyone what they’re naming her,” Sienna asks.

“No, not yet. They were waiting until she’s born in case they change their minds,” Minx explains.

“So now we know where Wren is. Where’s Lo? How come she hasn’t been around,” Marley asks.

“I haven’t talked to her in a week and a half,” I admit. “She left a note saying she had to leave and would call me soon, but hasn’t.”

“I’m sure she’ll reach out when she’s ready,” Minx says. We fall into easy conversation, catching up on all the little things some of us may have missed in each other’s lives. We hang out and see each other all the time, but we don’t always get to sit and really talk.

“Marley, have you gotten everything planned for your wedding next month,” I ask her.

“Yes! Let me show you my dress.” She pulls out her phone, flipping through the pictures. She stops on one of her wearing the most gorgeous wedding dress I’ve ever seen. It’s an off white, lace applique, long sleeve dress. Peaking through the lace is a sweetheart neckline, silk spaghetti strap, knee-length dress. The lace applique covers her from collarbone to wrists, cascading down into a four-foot-long train. The lace pieces accent every line and curve of her body. It looks like it was made specifically for her. All eyes will definitely be on her in that dress.

“Marley, you look stunning in that dress! It’s one hundred percent you,” I tell her.

“Thank you.” She blushes.
