The next morning,I wake up with Tink’s leg draped around mine. Diesel has his arm around her waist and is spooning her. Yesterday was by far the scariest day of my life. The thought of something bad happening to Tink or losing her was worse than when my so-called friends jumped me in Chicago all those years ago. I’m thankful she was safe when we got to her.
Everything that happened, from the moment we found out she was taken to the moment we got her back made me realize life is too short to care what people think about who I love. I know those who truly care about me won’t give a fuck who I’m with as long as I’m happy. Life is too short to hide your true self from anyone.
I slide out from under Tink’s leg, careful not to wake her. I’m about to walk out of the room when Tink’s groggy voice stops me.
“Where are you going?”
“To change and get some breakfast. Go back to sleep,” I tell her. She had an extremely emotional day yesterday. Then to top it off, the three of us had sex together for the first time. She needs to rest. As long as Diesel is with her, I know I have nothing to worry about.
In my room, I grab a pair of jeans, a black t-shirt, boxer briefs, and socks. I lay them on my bed, then move to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Changing out of my sweats, I slip my clean clothes on. I step into my shoes, put my cut on, and grab my hat as I walk out of my room. I’m not fucking with my hair today.
The cut bunnies must be in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Bacon fills the air down the hall and into the main room. A handful of brothers are already out here eating. I walk toward the bar and Carmine pops up out of nowhere.
“Hey, baby. Can I make you a plate? Or maybe get you a cup of coffee?”
“Oh, honey. I know you’re new here, so let me give you some advice,” Rivet says to her. “Leave H alone. He doesn’t fuck with cut bunnies.”
Carmine cuts Rivet a dirty look before turning her attention back to me.
“You look stressed. Why don’t we go to your room and I can help you with that?”
“Ahem.” I turn to find Tink and Diesel standing behind me. Tink looks annoyed where Diesel looks amused.
“I’ll give youonewarning,” Tink says to Carmine, pinning her with a death glare. “Back the fuck offmymen. I know you’re the bitch who answered my call yesterday. You’re lucky I don’t kick your ass right now.”
Carmine scoffs and retreats outside. Diesel chuckles beside Tink, who still looks irked.
“Damn, T. Feelin’ a bit scrappy today?” I tease her, trying to lighten the mood.
She shrugs a shoulder. “I may be a little territorial when it comes to what’s mine.”
“Just a tad, huh?” Diesel chuckles again.
“Tiny, but feisty,” I mutter with a grin.
“I was going to offer to make y’all a plate, but maybe I won’t now,” she taunts and saunters into the kitchen.
“You think she meant that,” I ask Diesel.
“I’m sure we’ll find out.” He walks around the bar and opens the cooler, grabbing two bottles of water. A few minutes later, Tink walks out of the kitchen with two plates of food.
“Are those both for you?” I smirk.
“You think you’re funny today, don’t you?”
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in a good mood.” I wink at her.
She sets a plate in front of me then kisses me on the cheek. “It’s nice to see you in such a good mood.”
“Thank you for breakfast,” I tell her.
“Of course.” She smiles at me before setting Diesel’s plate down then heads back to the kitchen to make her plate. The two of us wait to eat until she gets her food. She walks out with a plate in one hand and coffee in the other. The girl loves her coffee. She sits between us and we eat our breakfast in silence.
As I’m finishing up my breakfast, I get a call from Kicks. I excuse myself before answering it.
